Rooibos is an afrikaans word, directly translated it means red bush, say roy bos with a rolling R, hope to hear you say it in the next video 😀

The tea is pronounced roy-bos. It comes from The same place as me, South Africa. Rooibos means red bush when translated from Afrikaans to English because the before the the plant that the tea comes from has red leaves. If you haven’t had a cup of rooibos, I highly recommend you do. It is delicious

@@MDFishTanks I'm from South Africa too. I can vouch for Rooibos. Haven't drunk coffee or English tea for over 50 years. Can't stand the taste. But I drink Rooibos regularly. And as a side benefit, it's extremely healthy too.

Hi MD maybe don't recommend leaving the filter running without the sponge, I know you only have the pleco in there but others might do it and blend up their fish. Love the channel and take lots of inspiration/ideas from it!

Take a sip of the Rooibos tea. Its awsome and you will never use anything else. And your tank is looking great

I find mopani wood is perfect for black water tanks. It's the tannin that just keeps on giving!

Highly recommend dennerle alder cones. They are tannin bombs. Insane.

Rooibos tea is really effective for blackwater scape. I used it in my betta tank. I would suggest just use few bags of the rooibos and just bring it to boil. Longer you boil, darker the colour as it release that thick tannins from the tea leaves. It's really delicious tea to drink too

You can probably use the tea bags several times! 👍

Rooibos is my favourite tea. It's good with and without milk. Also good with honey too. And it's non caffeinated

That betta has some awesome colors

I think the nugget pleco tank needs a HOB or at least a sponge filter to give it surface agitation. It'll help keep the tank oxygenated.

Your build tutorials are what got me hooked on your channel but I would honestly love to see more tutorials on how you maintain your tanks and how you deal with any issues.

Rooibos tea tastes good, no sugar added. Cheaper to buy loose-leaf tea. Don't know how they've processed the teabag - even organic teas.

I love my blackwater tanks, they really help showcase a fish’s natural environment and provide another level of interest to your aquarium. The only thing I don’t like about them is having people come over and asked me why my tank’s so “dirty” lol! 🤣

Great video and I'm so jealous of all your tanks! Just a suggestion: maybe don't scrub the wood in the future - plecos love to scrape off the stuff on the wood and eat it.

I can hereby confirm that diatome outbreaks are linked to silicates. Diatomes need silica to grow their glass like outer shell. They can't grow without silica, and as sand contains a lot of silica, using "fresh" sand greatly increases the changes of getting large amounts of diatomes. After time and some water changes you take out most of the silica and aftermath diatomes should be a nuisance of the past.

Double-check that the cartridges in your filter don't have carbon in them ... carbon will remove the blackwater coloring.

If you want the rams to breed, give them a flat rock to lay eggs on.

Try pop a teabag in the filter to keep it "black water".

You need a tank with a couple roseline sharks aka torpedo barbs, aka denison barbs

If you have charcoal in your filter, I would remove it as it could possibly be removing tannins from your black water tank.
