    This is what humans see almost every night for literal millennium up until electric lighting became the norm. It's kinda sad most people today would probably never see our own galaxy with their own eyes. I've only seen it a couple times when I went to a remote beach in the countryside.

    No, our eyes have never been HD, haha. The Milky Way, even in the most remote areas, would look like a faint band across the sky. It is distinct, obviously, but not way it seems in photos and videos like these.

    I was flying one night and i looked outside window and thought it was a town with lot of lights. But soon i realized thats not true coz lighting were almost horizontally coming at me. I was amazed to see how beautiful night sky actually is. We should have 1 hr of light savings where everyone comes out and just do stargazing.

    Exceptional! I enjoy MW photography, but from a terrestrial vantage point. What exposure settings? Normally (on the ground), I use settings like 6-13 sec (focal length dependent), ISO 6400-12800, and f/1.8. Inflight, do you keep the aperture open for multiple seconds (perhaps that's turbulence-dependent)?

  • @BestAirplaneSeat

    @BestAirplaneSeat

    Жыл бұрын

    During the cruise part of the flight, I want to keep the timelapse speed steady, so I have a fixed exposure time of usually 6 seconds. Aperture is fixed on the fastest I have f/2.0. ISO will depend on the amount of Moon light available (Auto 100-12800)...

    😀 A timelapse is "fast forward" video created from photos. On a night flight the number of photos can go up to about 5000 depending on factors like exposure of the photos, flight time, etc... Seeing them photo by photo is easy. Just hit pause during the timelapse playback and you can skip frame by frame of the video and every frame is a different photo...

    It almost looks fake it's so unbelievably awesome looking....looks like 2 separate screens the top showing the stars and milky way, the bottom shows land and some curvature of earth. It's funny I just looked this type of video up just after taking my dog out in the yard and looking up tonight I saw about 4 unexplained lights going across the nights sky above my house, and I saw a couple airplanes much lower, aswell and whenever I see this illuminated lights, similar to about the brightness of a star, maybe a little dimmer but its moving while all the others are stationary and its often I'll see a plane nearby it and it always makes me wonder if sometimes they could see whatever these objects are but i think these objects are far higher in altitude than planes but as i follow them with my eyes i end up losing sight of them almost like the illumination went out so its practically invisible in the nights sky.

  • @BestAirplaneSeat

    @BestAirplaneSeat

    Жыл бұрын

    Hello Daniel. The video is not fake or composed of 2 separate screens. It's exactly what we see on an airplane though you have to consider 2 main factors: - a camera can capture much more information and detail than what our naked eyes can see - the curvature of earth might be enhanced by the wide angle lens As for the lights you saw there's an easy explanation. They are satellites that become visible whenever the sun shines on them (more visible before sunrise and after sunset). As soon as they move to the earth's shadow, they become invisible to us... Also, they're easier to see on a timelapse because the light they reflect moves faster in the night sky...
