A true craftsman... only problem is that he is using material that will not last.. the cement will start crumbling within a few weeks.. guy needs to use his skill on something more lasting

Moulding is an ornament and it ijust a waste of time and money as it does not have any purpose but just a mere decoration. As the great modern Architect Adolf Loos said "Ornament is a crime".

When water gets in behind the bricks will get wet amd never dry leading to them crumbling. Never cover bricks up unless they will never get wet. Bricks need to breathe and get dry after getting wet.

Same technique used in Roman times with many examples still standing today.

I used to live in a neighborhood where all of the buildings were from 1840-1890 and quite literally built like that. Probably requires more maintenance than exposed brick, but certainly not a cause for concern.
