Amazing Pine Resin and Pine nuts Harvesting and Processing - Pine Product Processing in Factory

Ғылым және технология

Pine Resin is a substance that oozes or exudes from pine trees, and some other plants, to help heal wounds or seal off insect damage. Depending on what time of year you forage, and the age of the resin, it may be soft and sticky, or it may be in hard chunks.
Pine resin has benefits for humans too! It’s antimicrobial and increases circulation, making it useful in products such as:
- First aid salves for minor scrapes and nicks
- Drawing salves for splinters and boils
- Rubs for aches & pains
- Soap for various skin conditions
- Balms for chapped or dry skin
It has a fresh piney scent that smells pleasant to most people, dependent upon the type of tree you harvest it from. Some species of trees produce more resin than others.

The liquid they brush on to the wound is often paraquat, it increases sap production 10 fold but also makes the resin toxic

Hmm an interesting process that I don’t think could be replicated here in the Midwest USA due to pine beetles. With the trees that close together and all having open wounds the beetles would spread like wildfire and decimate the forest.

It has been known for a while that there are foods that contain high levels of Oxalates in the medical industry Pine nuts are one of them that cause inflammation that few disclose to their patients much less the food industry to the consumer. Some just don't know any better. I heard my doctor say As a doctor we can't know everything. What a cop-out. kzread.info/dash/bejne/mpiCr86ecqTWgLw.html

The pine nuts or seeds are located under the petals of the cone. One seed per petal. Pine cones that have opened fully have already dropped their seeds. That is why the mature but not yet opened cones must be shaken from the trees.

How often are the trees re tapped? Here in Canada we tap our maples every spring but I like to make the smallest possible holes, I worry about those large gouges in the trees. We have loads of red pine plantations here though so I wonder about tapping a few of those. It would be interesting to see the next step of resin processing further down the line. Super interesting though, thanks for sharing
