I only just noticed that the red and blue parts at the bottom of the card are meant to be the ROG logo. I always thought it was a bit of a random design choice until now.

If I’m really trying to go all out and hopefully stay relevant into the future is this worth it? I mostly play at 1440p and the 2070 is starting to not cut it anymore plus I’d like to have the option to Ray trace and not completely tank performance

Eventually your money is yours to do what you see fit, I would definitely go the 4080/4090 rout if I could afford it, it will spare me a year or two of upgrading down the line, and also have better used market value. If you are looking to properly buy according to your needs and budget I would go 7900xtx or lower budget GPU, just for better instant value. Btw, many rumors around for RTX 40 Super cards right around the corner

Yes. It's common in these cards sadly, but the whine is directly connected to fps output, so if you don't run games "uncapped" it's not that noticable

What psu u got? The cable burning is due to improper cable insertion, just make sure you plug it in correctly and you will be just fine

lol, if the connector of the adapter is fully seated correctly no GPU would catch on fire, just make sure you put it all the way in

I already Have a 3080 Ti that I want to put in another PC when I get my 4080, but wait... is the back plate metal or plastic? to be honest, it kind of looks like plastic. I have been researching over and over for the last 4 weeks trying to decide which 4080 I wanted as I am ordering one on around March 8th . I finally decided this is the one I want... until I saw the back plate. If its in a plastic back plate housing, I dont want it. I cant really tell from your video. If its plastic, I'll just get the Gigabyte Aorus Master 4080.

before the price was showed i was considering the upcoming RDNA3 flagship or the 4080, all would depend on pricing and performance, i was watching the stream at my college and i legit almost bursted laughing mid class when nvidia unveiled the 1200usd pricing for the 4080, and immediatly ditched it as an option and my concern was the RDNA3 cards pricing, so with how underwhelming this card ended up being for it's price, getting the XTX is almost a certainty

it is, and now all the vendors just cranked the prices of the 3080 to 3090ti.... so, yah its just a lesson for Nvidia that is kinda playing an unfair game, and we only hope the 7900XTX and XT can make the competition real and prices lower

So... Clearly these cards run games best on your private jet, yacht or space station. Not really something I'm looking to invest in. Due to regulation regarding eco-friendly soldering these cards likely won't last, but on the other hand RTX5080 in 2 years, right? Why bother upgrading?

If you have a strong gpu it's certainly fine to skip 1 or 2 generations, and still, gpu's were super expensive due to crypto and now it's expensive due to janson's jacket. People still go and buy it

It's the connector, it has a small click when it's not fully seated, causing pins to warm up. When connecting it you must make sure it's in all the way and seated properly

i saw aftermarket cables with failed pins, so check them well before installation, otherwise should be the same... just less ugly TBH i would get a cablemod custom cable :)

you wont be CPU bound while playing in 4K unless you drop settings to minimum :) great TV, i run a 77 G1

Sold my Strix 4090 to my brother and got myself Strix 4080. The card itself is awesome 4K no problem but 4090 I can't stand the heat, 4080 is ok so I'm pretty happy with the downgrade. Sorry for my English

lol prices on those are insane, its like mining ETH never went away. Hopefully, there will be a wake up call later in 2023 and they lower it to $850-900. Even that will be a huge price increase compared to previous gen. I agree that getting a 3080ti is the best option for now. Good video, keep up the consistent uploads and you will succeed!

the 7900XTX has DP 2.1, it can drive 8K 120HZ, and dual 4K is half the pixels, so it could potentially drive Dual 4K 240.... problem is not the port at this point, its the actual GPU pushing such crazy frames and resolutions. i suspect it wont matter that much

well yes, it wasnt relesed when the review was published, and also... AMD is kinda sketchy at the moment with review samples. but depending on the price, the 7900XTX is a better choice unless you need NVIDIA specific features.

The break out cable is just rediculous. And the last gen cards are so fast there really is no reason you need hundreds of fps even at 4k. Complete over kill for any type of gaming even at 4k 240hz. I returned mine and went back to rx6800xt. 1200 dollars? Yep confirmed not worth it in an way shape or form.

There comes a time when the only option is to get what's available, it's closer and closer especially for the 3060's since you have no other option for new cards, that have control eventually and without proper competition we are stuck with the consequences

No one is buying a 4080 to play 1080p or 2k. don't even need those graphs lol I upgraded from my strix 3080 to a strix 4080 super and it's at least double the improvements at 4k. 3080 couldn't even keep 60fps in a couple games

i personally like getting a higer-end thing if i can and hold on to it for a few cycles.. so there's sense in getting the stronger variant. but we must keep in mind that its getting impossible to buy a new 30 series card. in that case you are left with either buying a 4080/4070ti or a 3060ti / 3060, unless you buy 2nd hand.

It's not expensive, it's for 4k

Every KZreadr who bought a 4000 advises his subscribers to buy a 3000. bullshit 1. The efficiency of the 4000 is awesome. They are quieter and cooler. 2. After years frame generation is finally a technique to play solo games in 4K without gpu / cpu bottleneck. Even with an 4080!

we didnt buy it, ASUS sent it for review... and the only reason NOT to go and but it right now is the current price, even at MSRP the soon to be released 7900XT is a threat to the 4080 at much lower cost, and i know the have no DLSS, and DLSS 3 is great, but still, the current price strategy from NVIDIA is the actual BS

Correct, inflation is a bitch, AMD might not be the saver but as consumers we also have to be responsible, and getting the 4080 for $1200 or more is not, it's a great GPU, we just need some competition like amd did to Intel with Ryzen. We reap the rewards at the end.

thankfully the 3080TI have a 2nd hand used market with amazing prices, but... the prices now are wild, as the new gen just launched we have a new price hike on 30 series cards since there's no competition.

well its up to the AIB partners and some designs are identical to their AMD designs (sadly) EVGA was really cool actually and Jazyz2Cents had the EVGA unreleased 4090... it looks GOOD! the Asus TUF is also a looker IMO

1500$ for this Strix is way too much. If you are to spend that much money might as well spend 1600$ gia get a 4090FE which is way more powerful than this card

Depends on where u are, you might not have to option to get the FE, actual performance gap should be non existent. But if possible I would rather have the FE for sure, mostly for better ram binning, and also, it's sleeeek

If you look at the difference between a 4070 Ti and a 4080 thats 400$ for 20% performance which makes this card meh and really if you going to spend up north towards that you might as well go 4090 The 4080 is in a strange spot so its really the 4070 Ti or 4090...

I just invested in a RTX 4080 for 1700 USD and sold my "older" 3080 Ti for 1100 USD. (This is what the prices are in my country) I am gaming on a 3840x1600 monitor. And I can say that RTX 4080 feel like it was specially made/designed for this resolution. It absolutely nails it. My CPU is a i9-9900K running @ stock speeds. Just tested Rise of the tombraider, and Im getting more than 200+ FPS with everything on ultra including RayTracing. On PUBG and other games, i set FPS limiter... I dont want the refresh to go above the 144hz G-sync capabilities of my monitor. Now, considering that I sold my 3080Ti and paid "only" 600 ekstra to get my RTX4080, I am very happy with this deal. The way I am looking at it: --> basically, I already had the 3080Ti so the money was "lost" either way... So it all depends how you look at it. For all I care I bought the RTX 4080 for 600USD, it was a steal! And the card is a beast. Dont get me wrong, the 3080Ti is still very good as well! But RTX 4080 is a different kind of "ice-cold" and chill beast! The inlet fans of computer chassis is locked to max 40% while gaming as opposed to 60% with the 3080Ti. And the RTX 4090... it costs 2400USD here... And some call it a better buy, due to performance ?... At that price ? naah... if you already can sell a "older 30 series card".. and get a RTX4080 for 5-700 USD more, you should be happy! By the way.. spending 2400 on a 4090 ?? (that would be 1300 USD extra after selling 3080Ti... and that is very close to a retarded deal)

Prices vary between countries, so in your country it could be extremely expensive, for us the 4080 costs almost $2000... So it's hard to be conclusive for everyone, but hey bro the most important part is you enjoying your purchase!!!

Jupp. Either way, just wanted to give a tip.. when people are concidering new cards, tip them to think what do they already have, and what is it worth.. it might be very justifyable if they already got a high end card to sell ;) might be worth mention :) if you take a step into the high end/enthusiast level, its usually expensive 1 time, and it will cost you 500-700 usd every 2ish years to keep on top. Its not to bad for those who play alot

Important to note, I forgot to mention.., I agree that the prices are totally #¤&"¤ ,and I would love to go AMD, I am a team read man... But my favorite game Killing Floor 2 needs Nvidia Flex to get that extra gore... so until KF3 comes hopefully with a "global" gore system not locked to any specified GPU type.., and KF2 gets old... Im stuck with team green. I really hate that its legal to do this kinda stuff...
