Amazing KONE double deck test elevator at KONE test tower Tytyri Finland
(6-5-2017) This is an insanely fast elevator at 10 meters a second! Also the floor indicator is not to scale and the buttons display how many meters below ground you are. It has carbon fiber ropes. Watch how fast it goes on the 300 meter trip! A huge thanks to KONE and stay tuned for the full elevaTOURS adventure hopefully coming up this weekend! CONNECT WITH ME!

Now that was some experience. Liked the shots of the lift car at the start so you can see how fast.

Trust me not to read the description...WHAT...10 metres per second??? That's mad!! Wonder how the rapid difference in air pressure would affect people in a high rise!
@mrmattandmrchay

I suppose any speed is safe when you're in a box, my comment really relates to air pressure of rising and decending so quickly, maybe it's fine I don't know. I remember watching a film on this subject. Otis were saying that they can make lifts go at whatever speed was neccessary, but it all depends on the effects of the human body.

A few years ago Harrods upped the speed of their main lifts from 2 m/s to 3m/s, but the glass doors passing at that speed make people feel sick, so they had to remove the glass from the inner doors.

mrmattandmrchay the fastest a elevator could possibly go is 25 meters per second due to air pressure

Funtime Freddy According to Otis its 8 m/s in the down direction. But anyways the the first lift that exceeded the speed of 8m/s was the Sears Tower in 1971 if I am not wrong. The first lift to reach 10m/s was built in 1978 by Mitsubishi at The Sunshine 60 Building in Tokyo, with the shaft travel distance at about 232 meters. The world's fastest lifts currently can be found at the Shanghai Tower. They were manufactured by Mitsubishi and completed in 2016. The lifts travel at a speed of 18m/s. The next fastest lift in the World would be manufactured by Hitachi at a speed of 20m/s. *Twice* as fast as these lifts.
Nice to see video of the place! I remember them talking about testing the carbon fiber robes there years ago for Kingdom Tower.

If this was a Japanese elevator it would be whisper-quiet. They say that the ropes should last at least twice as long as conventional steel ropes. I could see them lasting even longer.

This is the best elevator and best ride ever!
It's too bad they got rid off the Toshiba fixtures, but it's still looks quite nice with the KSS buttons and the InfoScreen LCD. I prefer the old interior back when Hissen12 filmed (when it still had the Toshiba fixtures and chimes).
From 6:21 to 7:07 - the 300m trip.. These elevators move pretty fast! I saw a video a while back about the elevators in this mine, and I was wondering if they ever let outsiders in to ride them!
Model is MiniSpace MX100, the model used on their extreme high speed lifts and double deck lifts.
So awesome I'm so excited to see more
As i'm petrified of elevators, this would absolutely kill me. Lol.

Good evening. I am writing from Japan. What happened to the Toshiba/Kone double-deck elevator that used to be here...? The elevator at my workplace, the Toshiba double-deck elevator in the Roppongi Hills Mori Tower in Tokyo, Japan, travels at a speed of 6 meters per second, so 10 meters per second is incredibly fast... I am amazed by the overwhelming technological prowess of Kone.

I’m making a 10 story Xenon test tower with Xenon ProTrac mid-rise elevators
That thing is in a mine? How and why?! It’s so beautiful that it should be in a mall or skyscraper somewhere. Thing probably cost 10x more than a regular elevator just from the aesthetics alone, not to mention those ropes, the depth, and the speed it travels...

It is Kone R&D center. They test new elevators and parts there constantly, including the carbon fiber robes. It's not open to public, while it is possible to get tours there.
3:06 If he puts the sound recorder on the floor, vibrations will ruin the audio. It would have been better if he had put it on a tripod wich is on some pillows or something soft to reduce the vibrations.
10 m/s on a double decker? That's fast for a unit that can weigh over 15,000 lbs.

Technicalboy3000 Wilshire Grand, right? I heard it's an awesome place.
22mph? Insane
Relatively slower acceleration to compensate for the pressure changes with regards to the inner ear, I believe that the maximum recommended speed is 8m/s.
@NeilPrasad_1905
3 жыл бұрын
why? 10 m/s is the limit.
@abczerios208
3 жыл бұрын
The reason why the acceleration is slow is becouse the lift is double deck so it weight more, If the lift is not double deck, the acceleration will be faster than it use to be.
Wooowww that was awesome whooshing
Classic leveling! Seemed to be slow at leveling, though.

This is semi intelligent but with pre doors it basically stops in a controlled way
What is the floor indicator showing? It surely isn't meters... but it isn't floors either as 300 meters is roughly 985 feet... at the common 12 ft/floor, there would be approx. 80 floors.

Depends on the lift's speed. The door can be fast or slow if you insist. But if someone is entering the lift while these fast doors are closing, this might be DANGEROUS! Press the door open button before it's too late.

Correct, Kone always has high quality standards using carbon fiber ropes instead of steel ropes for ultra-high rise applications because carbon fiber ropes are much more stronger and lighter than conventional steel ropes to with stand the stress of the heavily loaded elevator car and so called "KONE UltraRope".

3 жыл бұрын
Lol no, terminal velocity is around 53 m/s. 9.8 m/s^2 is a measure of acceleration. In this case, the lift is only accelerating at a speed of 1 m/s^2, far from the “free falling speed”.
