My man chisels right through the knot and still gets a perfect dovetail
Never have I watched a KZread video so intently.
Fascinated by the way you sneak up on the marks, saw cut well away from the line then carefully chisel up to the finish line. Very important, I see now. Thank you.
This helps to appreciate the craft of wood working with a basic hand tool without any power tools
*Very Nice, Thank you For Sharing*
Thank you for sharing. Top.👍🏻
Fantastico lavoro
A trusted sharp chisel can go a long way in the creation of arts and crafts...just ask Michelangelo.😁
Amazing, Japanese craftsmanship without any of the praised Japanese tools 😀
Another really nice corner joint, I like the simplicity of it, at the same time it looks likely to be strong too.
Very nice👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you H Carpenter....you show what can be done without all the fancy, new fangled gear that's sold to the population. In your hands , simple tools become wonderful things to make the imaginings of your mind come true... I learn every time I watch you ..
Fascinating, I thought I was good but not that good
Great work without all the over priced tools. Real skill......
Very, Very, Very good

I love all these joints but please put a picture of the plans in the video or something Please!!
Looks like the beginning of a table or bed frame. Solid as a rock and elegant as fine China. Thanks for sharing this video with us.

但是現在中國基本上已經沒人傳承了,會這項技藝的人越來越少,畢竟這項技藝需要的時間和精力去學習無法量產。

such a fantastic joint it is amazing to see it done. Question how do you have you chisels sharpened since your chisels are shaped differently to the european style is it flat honed on a stone or just interested to learn what you do for them?

Despite a weak point in the last piece assembly, it is a masterpiece. Thank you very much. Some dimensional improvements only needed. Thumbs up!

This is wonderful !!!
Very nice. Good thing the humidity didn't change before that was done, or it may not have fit. Lol
Hi, this is just an example of joint right? It's not real project, but when you do real project like this, do you glue it afterwards? Also what is the wood you are working with here?
Beautiful, clean, straight forward work. Done with the utmost minimum of tools and great intelligence.

David, I am 63, just diagnosed with head/neck cancer and about to go thru treatments, and I have decided this will be my stress relief work. I can’t do this stuff either, but I need a challenge to take my mind off my health issues. You practice the skills and you be That person to pass it on to someone else. You can do it, it’s wood and metal. If we mess up, try it again on the other end.
Inspiring
Really amazing skills. Mind blown, liked and subbed.
excelente trabajo
A lifetime handmade joint. Congratulations ! What kind of wood do you usually use ?

…I never saw a combination square on that bench, BRAVO! Incredible skills accumulated through so many years of building and practice. I just have a question…the tools don’t look like Japanese chisels neither the saw (doesn’t look like a Dozuki, Ryoba or Katana)…the wood used does not look like Hinoki or Keyaki, but more like Mango wood…
Great work. Still I have a question: Isn´t that open end of dovetail on second pice weakpoint of whole joint? Seems to me to be easiest part to break, considering wood grain... Left this piece more connected with rest of beam by some sort of plating (not have that dovetail open through whole width of beam) could make it more robust and at the end it could cover that dovetail joint of third piece after final assemby. But just asking.
Es todo un Maestro Saludos Cuidese Mucho

Anyone know what type of chisels those are? Maybe if the camera angle, but they look almost like they are shaped like a dovetail
You are so amazing 👍

Voilà de la maîtrise digne de ce nom. Je ne me lasse jamais de regarder le maître.
You are very talented I just had to subscribe to your channel so I could see more. Could you tell me what is the angle of the bevel on your chisel that you use to shave the sides of the dovetail ?
