To those calling these fighters "dancers" you must have never been to a dojo in your life. Yes, they are specialised in karate as a sport , and hence there is extreme emphasis on speed and not strength behind the hits, but lets not pretend they arent black belts in their own rights, with years upon years of drilling and perfecting techniques in kumite. Its not that they cant add power to their punches, its just that they dont have to. Any good dojo teaches the difference between the application of movements in street and just what is necessary in kumite competitions. As someone who has been doing kickboxing for years, im still just barely toe to toe with my black belt best friend; the strength and speed is awe-inspiring.

Bang on! Couldn’t agree more. I don’t like sport karate much because it limits the amount of techniques available, and to the untrained eye makes karate look boring. Those that train realise that this is just one element of karate, and certainly not the single thing to judge it on.

Look, I get that you respect karate but if we are being honest it is the weakest of all martial arts otherwise a 12 year old would not be able to get a black belt just because he can do the same sieries of moves over and over again.

@@mathant3647 Muitos golpes são liberados no karatê WKF, exemplo do Ushiro Uraken e outros chutes giratorios no ar, basta vc ter controle,técnica e tempo certo só que a maioria prefere só usar Kizame e Gyaku 🤷‍♂️

Ate concordo com sua opinião, o Douglas é um dos melhores karatecas do Brasil na atualidade, mas gostaria de deixar um complemento aqui para quem sabe talvez alguém de bastante influência do Karatê no Brasil veja meu ponto de vista ....Posso dizer com muita propriedade que em nosso país existem muitos e muitos outros atletas de níveis internacionais, mas infelizmente estão no anonimato devido a falta de apoio dos grandes empresários em acreditar no potencial de cada um deles e principalmente um estímulo do nosso governo juntamente com a CBK em incentivar e facilitar a ida de novos atletas as competições, sendo assim elevando ainda mais o nível de competitividade dentro de nosso país e automaticamente conseguindo ter mais atletas conquistando mais resultados em campeonatos internacionais...

It should be short, sharp and not extended, it should come from the stomach not the throat as these people are doing. As I said, they don't understand it and they are making this scream for show rather than effect

@@pavelp1782 I get that in different schools, on example, one kata can be done a bit differently, but the names of the techniques are pretty much the same. Ura mawashi is a completely different technique than ushiro mawashi. That's like calling ushiro geri a spinning yoko geri, which it simply is not.

TheEvolvedNoob It’s called a kiai. In order to score on a technique, you have to shout when you do it. It serves to alert the referees, but also to empty your lungs, so if you get counter-attacked, you won’t be winded.

yes, as far as I know, to count it must have technique, control, AND impact, there's no impact because the other person continued attacking.

In this case Ao fell because Aka grabbed his leg, and so he lost his balance, otherwise he would have done a much better landing.. That's why they gave him the ippon, because the fall technically wasn't his fault. Oss

Isso é um esporte, ninguem esta ali para provar a eficiência em combate. Lyoto pratica o mesmo estilo de karatê mostrado no video, mas compete em outro esporte. Opinião qualquer um pode ter, argumentos validos nem todos.
