    The GE-36 engine was also noisy and to reduce the noise level also reduced the fuel efficiency to be negligible better than normal engines add to that the disagreement as to 7J7 internal configuration with one having the GE-36 engine and the other a standard engine combined with the cost of oil finally killed it

    Not sure that’s true overall, it may be true in some sense but first of all the real name of a car is an Automobile and although I am not sure and I don’t care enough to look it up, the word car is probably related to carriage as the horse drawn buggies were called coaches and carriages. Aircraft I would imagine refers partly to the fact it obtains lift with wings so if the vehicle doesn’t have some sort of fixed surface that either provides lift or buoyancy is it really a craft? as far as I know only fixed winged Airplanes and Boats are referred to as crafts I don’t think helicopters are, so although flying car may not be the best description I don’t thing craft is either so if it ever takes off as a viable transport they will probably call it something else entirely.

  • @Djwunmoshen

    @Djwunmoshen

    @@aural_supremacy yeah. I get what you say. But if it doesn’t drive on a Road and engage in traffic then can take off as a flying craft. Is it a flying car? Or a flying craft/vehicle. I’m old school like MASK cartoon and Back to the Future.

    The GE 36 was hardly killed off due to oil prices. It got killed off because it was insanely loud and larger high bypass turbofans where already rapidly surpassing what it could do. The US air force tried something similar with the XF-84H "thunderstreak" and it was so loud it damn near killed a man and could be heard for miles.

  • @dane4265

    @dane4265

    whilst you are right, the original jet engines were also much louder during development. So many of the issues may of been remedied had the price not dropped and development had continued....

  • @michaeltward2859

    @michaeltward2859

    Жыл бұрын

    @@dane4265 The military tried the tech as well. Their engine was so loud it killed people and blew out windows. The tech relies on few blades at a very high rpm or many at a lower one. But once you lower the rpm to reduce noise you lose efficacy at the blade tips and need to put a shroud around them. At which point you have just built a turbofan engine.

    wanted to make a rc drone on the same concept as that new delorean car in this video, so perhaps I can steal some design concepts from it for my design. but there are still some things I would do different. somehow expected this video to be about rc drones because of that because it looks quite much like how I had designed it. however at looking at the 3d model I see some differences. I didn't base my design on that car/plane however. I just came up with that concept to make a faster and more efficient/durable racing drone for long distance races. it was mostly to fix issues with a speciffic old technology which in the past was used in some high speed quadcopers to go faster than the motors would normally be capable of. that technology however was to hard to use for most people since it required a lot of precission and timing to use it succesfully without chrashing, and it typically will cause problems with most fpv sets causing you to lose vision or get bad vision. currently it is comming back in acro mode freestyle quads, however there it typically is only used for making faster/sharper turns. but I wanted to make a racing drone optimized for those longer distance races again. and now embracing the modern technologies which can make it lighter while still staying strong. my concept was to add small wings to it and to controll the motors using rc servos so I could go super fast in straight or almost straight lines, while the wings should barely add any slowdown in things like going straight up(could actually go up faster/more efficient than a regular drone by rotating the entire craft 90 degrees.) and it could assist with turns where the speed*weight gives a big number as outcome. doesn't affect normal turns that much, and it should greatly increase battery life when looking to how far you can fly on a single battery.

    Sadly the Cyberone is *still* not walking properly. They really need to understand that movement for bipeds is a state of controlled imbalance. We fall, catch ourselves with the other foot, and then repeat the cycle. Until they can get a robot to do that, they might as well not be arsed with doing humanoid robots and opt instead for ones that can do the task without doing the "I'm a baby who just learned how to walk" shuffle.

    Very true. But the main problem that they have been having with robots is the hands. To be more pacific, the thumbs and fingers. The robots still can't pickup a glass of water or a cup of coffee. Without breaking it or spilling it. They can't get the thumbs to work like a real thumb. And they can't get the fingers to apply the correct amount of pressure when picking up different things. For example like picking up a feather or a glass of water.
