You'd simply run a wire that's parallel to the lines. Parallel lines would be perpendicular to the magnetic field, which would maximize the amount of induction. The issue though is that you're not likely to be anywhere near close enough to the transmission lines to get any appreciable amount of current like that.

Regardless if that reader was broken or not. Wish I understood electronics. Unfortunately 12v or 110/240 is all cross. But could make a ton of money if I understood smaller electronics an pcb boards ect. I’ve purchased chips an things that were clearly burned out an replaced. But never had any luck. Sucks I throw a ton of boards away easily $500-1200 each. An the problem most of the time got to just be some dirt cheap single component that could be replaced so easily for fractions of a penny. Unfortunately don’t have the understanding of it. Just what few components actually are. But how do they play with each others on a circuit. Unknown. Just know a lot gets thrown out that would be hella resale value with the market in the demand that’s it’s in for these things. Maybe one day

@@joewoodchuck3824 What do you propose doing if you suspect that an unshielded ground might be receiving juice form somewhere on the circuit, but don't have any real idea where it's happening?

@@SmallSpoonBrigade In my world of electronics (extensive, BTW) shielding means an active conductor is surrounded by faraday means. If you mean something else you'll need to specify. As to carrying current just don't make contact. Any knowledgeable person would know that. Only those people should be attempting something like this. Besides, this device only gives you a general idea. If you're really going to troubleshoot you need a multimeter.
Omg he just destroyed the code hiders chips.. Alright.. I see potential in here and mostly electricians would be happy to have these innovative ideas. We could even add a 1 TB USB to find the wire current. FYI it cannot the flow of current from outside.

Appears impressive. I suppose you could fashion one with a microcontroller which interfaces with your phone through an app
Seria bom se mostrasse no video o valor dos componentes, assim facilitaria para quem wuiser montar essa tua ideia ^^

It's an induction power detector, it should work so long as there's electrons moving through the wire generating a magnetic field to induce a current in the spring.

I'm pretty sure the whole point of these videos is to inspire people to think creatively about electronics projects. Personally, I would buy the device from a proper store because if I'm using one of these, it's to verify that I'm working on a circuit that really has been de-energized, and licking the terminals isn't something that ends well.

@@SmallSpoonBrigade this one has the potential to get someone killed though. Be creative sure, but don't be poking round mains voltage with something uninsulated, thats grounded to the frame of your phone, that you are holding in your bare hand.

@@jawaharlal9293 I know, But the nonsense about using a mobile as the power source is dumb, The circuit is extremely basic that a beginner would build.
You know what people but really sucks and some of these shorts is that you're trying to watch the video see what's going on and the play button and fast forward it's right there in the middle messing up your view. Maybe if we complain enough to Google then we can get them to remove those features as in be able to hide them like normal.
If there were an extremely high amount of voltage... It would fry your whole phone.. don't use it it's too risky or if you know the source of energy does ant have high amounts of electricity in it

I have high-voltage wires running near my house. How can I make the light glow when I'm under the wires?
@SmallSpoonBrigade

You'd simply run a wire that's parallel to the lines. Parallel lines would be perpendicular to the magnetic field, which would maximize the amount of induction. The issue though is that you're not likely to be anywhere near close enough to the transmission lines to get any appreciable amount of current like that.
Amazing idea for what?

If you add a power source, and a chip to generate the tones and a speaker you could. However, you're not going to induce enough current and you're not going to get any sound at all without a chip to generate a tone.
