Lot of people here saying it's pointless to break that card reader just to make a cheap tester... Not only are those card readers definitely even cheaper, but I think the point is not saving money but making use of things you likely have available already. What if you don't need that card reader anymore? Maybe you've already got several, and this one is just wasting space. Wouldn't throwing it away be an even bigger waste of money when you could turn it into something else that's still useful instead?

You'd simply run a wire that's parallel to the lines. Parallel lines would be perpendicular to the magnetic field, which would maximize the amount of induction. Regardless if that reader was broken or not. Wish I understood electronics. Unfortunately 12v or 110/240 is all cross. But could make a ton of money if I understood smaller electronics an pcb boards ect. I’ve purchased chips an things that were clearly burned out an replaced. But never had any luck. Sucks I throw a ton of boards away easily $500-1200 each. An the problem most of the time got to just be some dirt cheap single component that could be replaced so easily for fractions of a penny. Unfortunately don’t have the understanding of it. Just what few components actually are. But how do they play with each others on a circuit. Unknown. Just know a lot gets thrown out that would be hella resale value with the market in the demand that’s it’s in for these things. Maybe one day

Why do you say it's fake? The circuit seems to make sense to me...

Because trolls will be trolls, and because people who do not know what they are talking about always have to voice their opinions in an attempt to make themselves look smarter than they actually are. Something akin to wearing non-corrective glasses. 😂

Does not work in real life. You need much more powerful tool to serch in walls, this is just a useless toy.
