I really want to get back on live. It's just been hard. I was sick for a couple of weeks and just not up for a late evening stream. I'm over the cold now anyway this week. Otherwise, Wednesday nights are tough because it is one of the few evenings in the week with no other activities, so I've been choosing family time and not having to cut that short. I need to figure something out though that I can sustain because lives are very fun to do, and I have so much I've been wanting to talk about!

Thanks. Yeah, that "cold" was nearly a full two weeks of blah feeling. Having that on top of still figuring out some things with my asthma was even more blah.

It's great to see your current theater room in all it's glory, man! And I agree that you should wait on the next gen JVC PJ as well, because I'm sure the next iteration of the laser light source will be improved and be a bigger upgrade over your NX7 for you. As for me, I'll be rocking my NP5 for probably 10, but that's because I'm not one to upgrade my gear frequently. ; )

Just upgraded from Anthem AVM 60 to AVM 90 last month, mainly because I upgraded from 5.1.2 to 7.2.6. KEF R5 LR, with matching KEF center, and matching ceiling mounted KEF Atmos speakers, and KEF R8 wall mounted for surround and back. Two SVS PB4000 subs. Use Anthem MCA 325 amp for LCR and three Rotel 1504 amps for the six Atmos speakers, surround and back. Room is 25 x 18 foot originally a den with a wet bar, windows etc., which made installation of the surround and rear speakers a challenge. but I was able to get the surround speakers in line with the sofa (yours seem a little far back?). But due to 2 archways from the back of the den to the living room, I had to mount the back speakers a little closer together than I wanted; Anthem ARC has really made this work pretty well. Installing the wires was also a challenge but got it done installing the wires for the surround and back speakers in the wall up to the attic above. No basements here in SE Florida! Sources are 4K Apple TV and a Kaleidescape movie player I purchased back in 2018 (the Strato S (wider one with built in 12 GB hard drive that has been discontinued)). 2023 85 inch Samsung Q90. For everyday we use the Samsung apps as they are simpler than switching the TV source to the AVM 90, just use the Samsung remote (no fancy Control 4 here) and can't see any difference in the way the apps work compared with the Apple TV. The only devices hooked to the AVM 90 are the Kaleidescape and the Apple TV., and of course the TV sends audio over enhanced audio return channel to the AVM 90. Considering replacing the sofa with theater seating. All equipment installed in BDI Corridor cabinet. For me this is pretty much the end game until something really special comes along.

Have to agree about speaker height. Kind of same as movie theater maybe with slight pitch pointing down ward.

Very nice room. I hope you and your family thoroughly enjoy it for years to come. I sure hope that you have had better time adjusting your 4 subs unlike the battle I'm having with my one sub. I hope using REW can help me sort out my bass issues.

Thanks! No issue with integrating the 4 subs. I let Anthem ARC do the work including delay and phase.

Very,Very nice room & equipment.❤ I would stay in that room if I were there especially now that I'm retired. I don’t see any weaknesses in your equipment. Maybe in the future ungrade the projector.🤷🏿‍♂️ In your room I would probably change the door to a solid one to further contain the sound and vibrations if any but I'm nitpicking. You are at a level I could never attain! Congrats and Enjoy!🥂 The Old Man!👨🏾‍🦲

Any suggestions to make sure when installing recessed lighting to prevent & eliminate rattles? My ceiling is a clean slate so I'm just hoping when I do get my subwoofers there is no rattles.

You and i have very similar amplifier history: Emotiva --> Parasound --> NAD I also love my WorldsBestCable. However, if you want to get into music, I'd recommend upgrading the cables (either RCA or XLR) to Cardas Parsec or Cardas higher lines (Clear Reflection, Clear, Clear Beyond). And to go further into music, I highly recommend upgrading: to the better Focal speakers with beryllium or step up from cone tweeters to thin-film tweeters (planar, AMT, ribbon) by Borresen or GoldenEar higher end models. from your builtin DAC in your Anthem to an R2R dac such as Denafrips Pontus II 12th-1 or higher such as Denafrips Terminator (and a DDC Denafrips Iris 12th or higher). And get a lossless music source like Apple Music. And a music streamer that can play NATIVE Apple Music (not just Airplay2) such as Eversolo or HifiRose.

Nice! All of my speakers in both rooms are Focal Be level with 1000 Series. Not Utopia yet, though. I do use Apple Music, but I don't have a lossless source. They really need to make the Apple TV be a complete device for Apple Music. Thanks for the recommendations!

@@Techthusiasm Music is sooo much harder to sound live with just 2 speakers especially with female vocalists, whereas a home theater's 5+ speakers and just playing movies can hide its sound quality limitations until you play music on it (and compare it to great 2 channels system).

@@muddasirsultan6256 I sold my Emotiva BasX-A3 on Craigslist, and met at Wendy's restaurant for the transaction. I used that $ to upgrade to the Parasound 2125v2. I feel that Techthusiasm has more experience selling than me.

What would you say your move from the Arendal subs to SVS? Upgrade, sidegrade, downgrade?

Oh, I didn’t mention power delivery in the video. Yes, the plugs behind my rack are a dedicated 20A circuit.

I know you said that the area outside of the theater is your kid's play area, any ideas on how you would use it in the future as your kids grow older. Maybe some kind of entertainment area, tied into the theater somehow?

We have ideas. To the right of the theater doors could be cool for a dry bar along the wall there. Put up a whiskey collection in the backdrop, some stools, popcorn machine, and the like. Or that could be an arcade machine row. In the bigger area, we'd probably do a couch/TV setup and then look to game tables. I'd love to have some combo of pool, shuffleboard, or such.

You have a 19ft throw distance correct. Do you know what your size picture you are getting from that distance?

Awesome video! I have been contemplating setting up a dedicated space in my garage and it would be of similar size to your room, bit smaller though. Also, did you consider the Focal Utopia 1000's? Curious if you heard the 1000's vs the utopia's and did you hear a difference? I heard the Utopia's in a store around me and it was amazing however the price is roughly 5K more per as you may know...

I would have loved to go directly to the Utopia models, but I didn't due to the cost. That may likely be a future upgrade for the room though with a plan to migrate the Utopia in and then the other models through the room. Most likely not this year though. We'll see. I'm sure the Utopia is a nice upgrade, but I have not listened to them.

With the strato s, do you need the server or is that only for the c model? Ive been thinking about getting one

Strato S has some storage built-in, so you can use the S as a complete system. If you need help getting into the platform, reach out for a referral.

Cable runs, and the drapes are crazy smart. You spent a small fortune on all those GIK acoustics panels. I would think the side curtains, if running the entire side wall would do the same thing and for a reasonable price?

The panels were a couple thousand, I believe. Not too bad. Two of their bigger rooms kits plus a few extra. The curtains really don't perform any acoustical benefit to the room, I don't think. It's more aesthetics, light control for the projector, and cable hiding.

Yoy said there was a closet behind the projector, why dont you move the projector back into the closet to make the screen bigger and curve the seats on the side so they face the center of the screen.

I have done this year, actually. There is some content about it on the channel now. It worked amazing!

How far apart are your Left and Right front speakers? Cos your Atmos speakers look way too close together, both ways. (Atmos speakers should be inline of your front left and right speakers.) And like the other commenter said, the two side surrounds are too far back. Other than that, all looks good. Well done. Nice and neat too. Seeing wires and cables everywhere would do my head in.

Maybe a bit over 10'. They are spaced based on my original 135" 16:9 screen because I didn't the curtains or the wall setup when I changed to scope. They could probably be a little further apart, but it is what it is. It is all in-wall/in-ceiling, so I had to go with the most accessible locations between studs and floor joists and accept the compromises. I couldn't use the next channels over in the ceiling because of HVAC and stuff, for example.

@@Techthusiasm Man the proximity of those atmos speakers to each other is hurting me. Object's can only pan so far in that setup. I understand you were limited in placement but did you ever consider on ceiling vs in. And give that you have 11 foot ceilings you would still maintain good hight. Something to consider.

I don't own either of those (yet). I mentioned in the video, I think, that I'm still just using lens memories for aspect ratio control. We'll see if and when this changes though in 2024.

I don,t like laser projectors because the laser has only 25000 hours of use, and then you need a new projector. Laser light can not be replaced.

If you use the unit a ton, that can be a limitation. I'll never touch anywhere near that amount of use though before I'd get a new projector.

They’re quite new tech, has anyone actually had one fail after such use? Sometimes manufacturers quote a lifespan but the item goes on much longer

True but 25000 hrs is a LOT. That’s like 17 years of daily use of 4+ hours. Idk who is doing that much EVERYDAY. Or like nearly 3 years of continuous runtime. Usually the real rating is higher as these manufacturers understate the capacity. Unless you leave your projector on at all times. It shouldn’t be a problem and most enthusiasts replace the projector every 6-8 years anyway so that 25,000 hr mark is usually not hit. But i expect the life to get better as the tech gets better.

Hate to mention cos you've done an fabulous job, but if I was spending at least 20 - 30k on audio equipment, there's no way I would've cheaped out on speaker cables. It's all about keeping the system evenly balanced. After all, a system is only as good as the Weakest Link! Yeah sure, monoprice cables are able to pass a signal (in the loosest possible terms) unlike balanced cables, monoprice single ended cables, especially monoprice single ended cables of length are not going to be able to pass an un-interfered signal! If one wants a no low noise floor, forget about Poweramps, cables of length need to be shielded. In fact, the better the shielding the quieter the room. The funny thing is when friends come over... rather showing off the quality of my setup. With the press of the mute/pause button, I prefer to show them how quiet my room is. No one gets it, of course 😂 Only fucking with you bro.. just nit picking. You know you got a fabulous setup. Congrats

Thanks! I would probably beef up the speaker wire in a future tear down. Maybe go 12 gauge instead of 14 just because. I doubt it makes any audible difference either way.
