AIM
To study music at AIM is all about having a fun, professional, academic experience, that helps set you up for a diverse lifelong career in the music industry, from performing to studio work, teaching, publishing, entertainment management, music business and a whole lot more, all connected as part of the AIM learning experience.
The best thing you can from here do is to come along to an OPEN Day or check out our website at www.aim.edu.au
Integration is the name of the game at AIM with six music departments on offer. Students focus on one major area of study but can integrate across other areas of study through a wide range of elective choices. AIM departments include; contemporary performance, music theatre, classical performance, composition and music production, audio technology and entertainment management, taught by some of the finest industry practitioners available in Australia.
So whilst a student may for example take audio as their major study, they can also choose to take units from any one of the other five major areas. In this way, students build a portfolio of music, audio, entertainment & business skills to create diverse career opportunities.
From AIM's annual showcase where students have the opportunity to perform on stage with full production to a full house, comes smaller creative projects where the journey of writing, producing and recording a song in the studio can be documented on video and placed on the web through AIMtv, as part of the AIM learning and artist development experience.
At the completion of two years of intensive study at AIM, students graduate with a Bachelor of Music degree majoring in one of six areas or a Bachelor of Entertainment Management. Equipped with state of the art Q Recording Studios, 300-seat concert hall, 60-seat intimate performance space, fully equipped Apple Mac labs, performing arts library and over 1400 students, the Australian Institute of Music offers the complete educational experience.

    I'm scared what an acoustic jam session with you and les claypool would sound like. Please try and make it happen, so many people would pay good money to see that!!

    My friend, I am so taken by you're music. When I'm waiting for the bus I will be tapping away on my jeans replicating the beat of you're songs. But in truth I'm just a nobody, a random person from the UK, yet if you read you're comments you will see you have changed me and made people feel jelous, impressed or have given them something to listen to. You have the gift to change people my Australian friend and I promise I will always be a fan! I will be watching you. Can I come over for tea? :P

    Victor Castaneda same prefer hardcore music rather than pop. But am way better at acoustic than electric. I guess this style that Sam's doing is my sort of style as well.

    Alot of fast hand movements at 1:24. Theres alot of heavy slaps with the left hand and incredible speed to the 12th fret harmonic at 1:47. This guy has a strong hand. Incredible natural skill. So damn in practise. Incredible focus... (Accuracy and execution is great and never looks away from guitar) Insane amount of natural ambition with not only playing but creating complex but easy to get into songs on an acoustic guitar and MOST of all, I see the personal hard work he has put into this!

    What's this thumb slapping/strumming technique called? :P

  • @handlerkm

    @handlerkm

    7 жыл бұрын

    not really any i know of as such most of it is just popping and slapping, its just that nobody does this incorporating bass techniques on guitar usually except like Tosin Abasi also there's the not strumming thing where he sometimes just focuses on percussion with his right hand and uses uses open string hammer ons/pulloffs to keep the strings vibrating on phrases the impressive thing isnt any of the techniques specifically, its that he's doing all of it at the same time whereas most would just put a few here and there to make a riff sound cool

    The key is to just keep picking up you're guitar. Just keep picking it up randomly each day and fart about on it and it will keep you in good practice.
