You’re got the right idea where you’re drifting- try to be a little more stealthy when approaching the intended fishing hole. Standing on the biggest rock around gives you a good view- but will also give yourself away at the same time. Fishing is a lot like hunting. Love your stuff !

6:30 when fishing places like that, the tailouts, anywhere next to bubbles, and behind rocks in the slow area are where you want to drop your fly. So you were hitting the right spots but a lot of the time it's also about depth. The water moves slow at the bottom of the river so you might need to get deeper to get more bites, basically ticking bottom with the fly if you weren't already doing that. Especially on the Stanislaus, if that's what you're fishing, I always catch them on bottom with nymphs.

When fly fishing rivers and creeks, cast to the beginning of the run and let it drift down into the eddys. It doesn’t hurt to cast a little further lol

Keep every crappie that you catch out of the ponds.Crappie will over-populate..thats a simple way to put it. They produce more fry than any other fish and they will take over a pond and then just stunt. They will stop growing. i’ve been through this twice in a small pond!

Creek and small rocky river fishing is best done before the sun hits the water, start above a hole or rock, let the current take the bait to the hole down stream from a rock, the fish will strike at the tip of the triangle of white water almost every time there is a fish to get, use natural bait, grasshoppers work GREAT as well as worms,
