Amazing footage of the sinking of the S.S. Queen Chloe

Ойын-сауық

At 10a.m. , February 2nd, a massive fire erupted in the engine room of Cardboardia Cruise Lines' S.S. Queen Chloe, after a large explosion was heard coming from the below the water line. The ship must have already had just a slight head list, since all the water that began pouring in from the bottom-center of the ship ran towards the bow, quickly pulling it down while the fire nearly separated the stern section from the bow. The emergency alarm went off, but the ship was sinking so fast that many of the passengers jumped and swam to the nearby pack ice.

3:45 Shoutouts to the naval architects and engineers who constructed the hull. Although the superstructure was almost completely burned down to the sheer strake deck, the aft expansion joint did not let go until the very end and kept both halfs of the ship together until the final plunge.

I have my own mini story for this. *START* The Queen Chloe was sailing through the same icy waters where every Cardboard Cruise line ship was, The crew weren't getting paid enough as promised. When things got bad, the crew went on strike, not launching the lifeboats. This is why the amount of deaths (8,835 in total) was so high, considering being the Highest death toll of a Cruise ship, almost reaching the wilhem gustloff (sorry if I spelled wrong :/) ! It was the largest modern maritime disaster in history. The 11th of february, exactly ten days after the sinking, the wreck was found, right beside the original cardboardia. *END* I hope you like it!

Story Time! This is a bit like my side of the story... The Maiden Voyage was on January 9th. It was at the time, the largest ship in North America. January 11th, The people putting in coal in the furnace thingy supposed to have a 1 hour break every 2 hours. One person hated their boss, so he secretly set fire to a funnel. The fire got bigger and bigger by the hours. By the 4th hour, people started to recognize the fire. The crew members started to load up the life boats. But since they canceled the life boat drill, they forgot how to lower them, the only person who knows how to lower the life boats, was the Captin. So the Captin started to load then lower the life boats. After he lowered the 4 boats, the water was at their feet. So they had to stop loading the boats. Some passengers tried to jump into the water and try to get in boats that were already lowered. Only few of them succeeded that decision. After an hour into the sinking, the fire got put out because of the wind. Then the boat plunged into the ocean floor. The 137 people who survived, got picked up by a rescue ship. In total 1'438 people passed away from the sinking... The End! Hope you enjoyed!

It gives enough courage to see how the cameraman takes the trouble to record so many deaths without doing something for them. Quite regrettable, I lose faith in humanity. This is an offense to those people who died in the Cardbordia. (?)

Hello! I know I'm three years late, but I still want to make a story about the S.S. Queen Chloe. It's a timeline of the sinking, instead of the short stories that other people are making. Anyways, here's the full thing: Total time: 10:03:39 - 10:36:37 (33 mins) Date: February 2, 2019 Route: Duluth, MN - Sault Ste. Marie, ON Passengers: 865 Crew: 134 Total: 999 09:40:36 - Queen Chloe leaves Duluth en route to Sault Ste. Marie. 09:51:31 - The ship leaves the harbour and her speed is increased to 20 knots. 10:03:39 - An explosion rips through the vessel in the engine room, injuring several engineers. 10:03:55 - Fire alarms on Decks 0 and the engine room are activated, signaling that there is a fire. 10:05:24 - Chief engineer notifies the captain about a fire in the engine room. 10:05:38 - Ship’s speed is reduced to 5 knots. Captain informs crew members to stand by at muster stations. 10:07:32 - Reports of a small gash in the side of the ship are reported. 10:08:13 - Ship engines stop completely, though the ship strikes a pack of ice. 10:08:49 - Ship begins taking on a 5° degree list to port. Ship also starts dipping forward. 10:10:01 - First S.O.S call is made. Nearby Lake Freighter Mesabi Miner immediately responds to the S.O.S call. 10:11:40 - Duluth Coast Guard station sends out a patrol boat to the scene. 10:13:38 - The captain orders to abandon ship. By this time, many passengers have gathered on the deck. 10:14:25 - Fire spreads to Decks 2 and 3. 10:16:47 - A flashover occurs, causing fire to spread to Decks 5 and 6. 10:19:15 - Mesabi Miner arrives and starts sending lifeboats to the scene. 10:20:35 - Lifeboat 5 is launched. 10:23:27 - Lifeboat 2 launched. A liferaft is also launched. 10:25:50 - The fire spreads onto the sundeck, prompting passengers to jump into the freezing cold waters of Lake Superior. 10:26:43 - Ship’s list increases to 12° degrees. Bow begins to dip under the water. 10:29:28 - Lifeboat 4 is launched, but hits a small ice flotilla and sinks. 10:31:14 - Funnel 1 collapses. The ship begins going under much faster. 10:36:37 - The ship fully sinks. 10:40:28 - First group of survivors are brought back to Duluth. Death count: 771 Survivors recovered: -Mesabi Miner: 89 (74 passengers, 15 crew) -RB-M 45628: 26 (all passengers) -USCGC Alder (WLB-216): 80 (79 passengers,1 crew) -James R. Barker: 33 (all passengers) Total: 228 A few things I want to point out: -Since all the Carbordia sinkings take place on a lake, I anticipated that at least some or most of the sinkings would take place on an area like the Great Lakes. -Since the SS Queen Chloe sinks on a lake, I would assume that it would be more like a hybrid between a cruise ship and excursion boat. -Most of the survivors that were saved by the RB-M 45628 and James R. Barker were on an ice pack. -Though only three lifeboats were shown to have been launched, at least eight lifeboats and life rafts were launched into the water. -Most of the deaths were caused by hypothermia. Anyways, ty for reading this!

This cardboard ship line has a safety record that makes White Star look like Cunard. P.S.: you’re lucky to live wherever that is. It’s absolutely beautiful there.

Looks like it was pretty much on an even keel so I am sure that helped many Cardboardians to escape. The last few seconds went quick though, not sure many could escape at the very end.

On a snowy day in the Atlantic, the S.S. Queen Chloe, grand liner, was sailing peacefully, then in the main dining room somebody tossed a bomb and it exploded, the fire when up the vents and through the funnel, people were running to the stern, one by one some got onto the boats, the pools heated water spilled onto the decks, the fire was spreading quickly, it was nearly splitting... the passengers jumped or ran, the roof of the grand staircase collapsed, then water started pouring into the grand staircase and the ship quickly flirted into the sky and, crashing came, people screamed and screamed, the stern crashed down and the soon one by one lifejackets, chairs, pillows, doors, and mattresses from beds floated up, people climbed on top of them slowly, now they wait, out of the 9897 onboard, 2332 survived...
