Or your southern, they get really tense if insult the US... my state actually has some good benefits for new moms you just gotta know about um. In the US quality of live definitely very from state to state, laws very greatly from state to state as well!!! Parts of the US are great! Then again might just be awesome here because were so close to Cannada!?

Many countries are reacting this way to declining birth rate. Nowadays so many postpone getting children and choose to have less as well. The government also gives a family allowance for every child (if a family has many children they get an allowance for each child till the age of 17) so that people who want children, but aren't sure they can financially, don't have to worry about it. With this method the amount of people with higher education has been increasing as has our (I'm a Finn) industries.

Well yeah you have good points, but the noise and chaos in primary school is absolutely shocking. Of course there are exceptions, but that seems to be the case today in almost ever school here in finland. And top it all of, the government only worsens the situation with strange rules. I do not understand why the government has had to go to change the working system. And nowdays there is far too many student responsibility for one teacher, so all the time goes to silence the wildest student, and then there is no more teaching in the classroom and this can be seen in the lower pisa scores.

The law from maternity help that created the baby box in Finland was done 1937 and the first boxes were given to moms on the next year. This box was a way that Finland tried to solve low birth rates and high baby death rates. The box was aimed for low income moms and you were able to get it only after visiting your doctor and having check up. I think that is still part of requirements to get this in here, not sure though. After WW2 it was decided that all new babies should get this no matter what the income was in the family. The baby box is part of it though why the death rates started to go lower in here.

I really like this idea, Moomins are so cute and I bet this is especially helpful for people in need, even though I personally would look for some second hand stuff first :) People, check out your local swap communities, I bet there are people giving away baby clothes and other necessities like toys, diapers, milk formula etc, at least in mine they do all the time :)

They starting implementing this in the states also. They don’t give you as many things as they do in Finland but they give you wipes, diapers, a onesie and some free samples. And also is a bed for them so that they have a safe place to sleep in for the first couple of months. It was really nice that Colorado had that as a thing you could receive after reading about them. So women check your hospitals they might have them!

@@Sab.86 I think they meant people have it better overal nowadays. Finland became a welfare state since 80's, which has lifted a lot of people out of poverty. And education and awareness related to health and childcare have improved a lot since the box was launched. (Between the world wars) That would improve the baby immortality rate regardless. But I think the combination of the "baby kit", childcare lessons and (free and obligatory) checkups are still the key.
