Amazing Filter Demonstration - Save Your Engine

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

The FS-2500 is an add-on filter unit. It slows the flow of oil and filters to 2.78 microns. The results are amazing... a dramatic increase in oil life and 99% reduction in engine wear. Available for any diesel engine application: pickup, truck, construction, mining, city transit, marine, hydraulics, transmission, etc...

I have used this system in my 3406E model Cat for 19 yrs. I had 1,000,000 miles and my co-drive blow the motor by getting it to hot. My mechanic said I could have used the old bearing off the mains and rods. there had being very little wear because I use the Filtation System. total miles with this system is over 2,000,000 miles. I have an FS2500 on my diesel pickup. I take oil feed with a T fitting from the port containing my oil pressure gauge and I return the oil through the oil pan's drain sump opening. My oil stays cleaner and runs cooler due to the metal casing of the bypass filter radiating excess heat. I have read that engine oil provides up to 40% of the engine cooling effect. I've debated plumbing a heat diffuser or two into the system as well. Coupling this filter with 100% synthetic engine oil allows me to replace both this and my standard engine oil filter yearly. I add a quart or so of engine oil every filter change and every other filter change I plan to send in for an oil analysis.

This is great information on the bypass. I was looking at the Amsoil bypass one for my GM gas engine. I have been using magnets on the oil filter and oil drain plug and noticed a lot of ferrous metals being picked by the magnets. I know best filters are about 20 microns at 99% efficiency so wanted a better option. Thanks for all the info

I run a Frantz Bypass oil filter on my R31 Skyline, have had it on there for about a year now, only changed the filter element ("Toilet roll") today, oil was still gold and still smooth. Only reason i changed the oil was i went to a thicker oil as we are coming into summer here. They are the best filtration you can get. All the people who doubt these have obviously never used one so they have no idea. There is also no loss in oil pressure.

I have read many peoples complaints about bypass filters and i don't think any of you get it. The bypass filter is a secondary system and takes out the smallest particles. Because of that you only flow a small amount of oil through the filter and you run all of the oil through approx 5 times a hour. Thats how they work. So there is no need to tell people they don't know what they are doing just because they want to improve on the oil in the system. These are and have been on truck tractor diesels for at least the 75 yrs. yes your oil will still turn black because of the dye discolours the oil but it does remove the damaging particles. That is how you get a million miles from a diesel engine. But if you think delete is the only answer well it isn't. I don't think they have gone about these systems properly to reduce pollution but delete is not the answer.

Bypass filters like this have been around for many, many years. They do work and there are thousands of positive, admittedly anecdotal results. However, don't think that this filter will result in new looking oil. It won't make your oil look amber. It will, however improve it's appearance somewhat.

It is a great filter demonstration. But Amsoil has had a system like this from the late 1970's and they sell the lubricants to go with it. They are only By-Pass filters, not full flow filters, but they can significantly extend the life of the oil and the engine. I have used them but now there is no room in my engine bay to install one.

***** And some didn't even have filters, like the original VW beetle, and my first vehicle, a 1929 Model A Ford, which had none from memory. Filtration over the years has improved, unless of course you use cheap filters. But many after market filters filter better than the originals. I did once have a toilet roll filter.

I've used Baldwin filters for a while after doing a research found that fleetguard was Cummins Filtration bought a Lube kit for the fuel and the engine along with the bypass filter. Upon priming my new fleetguard Lube filter I saw something shiny fall down into the oil I took a magnet and retrieved it pulled out a half moon coarse hair sized sliver of metal that was left behind from the thread Machining process. That piece of metal would have went right through the bearing journals people beware the quality control from fleetguard filters is not good I have never seen this on another filter. I'm glad I was paying attention and saw it

These are great for stopping engine wear I use something similar on my car, while a full flow oil filter filters down to at best 20 microns. These can filter down to 2 microns by attaching to the pressure port and only filtering a bit at a time. The bull s**** part is yes the oil will still go black. there is soot smaller them 2 micron but it can't cause any wear and the filter is good for 60000 clicks or so

not true at what efficiency? most filters are 20 microns @ 50% efficiency and are full flow which have a unloader that allows contaminants through especially when you first startup or don't change the filter. In fact Cummins requires bypass filtration now. That is why you see combo or dual flow filters part of the oil goes through a different media in the filter this is not available on most cars since you need a large filter to fit the bypass filter inside www.cumminsfiltration.com/south-pacific/venturi-combo-lube-filters. Micron rating is the size of particles which are filtered out by filters at a certain efficiency. When this efficiency is at least 98.6%, we speak about absolute micron rating/filtration. "Nominal micron rating is just a commercial trick for all efficiencies lower than 98.6%, meaning that for the same micron rating (for example 10 µ) in the case of nominal rating, not all particles will be captured in the filter as in the case of absolute micron rating." (from Cummins)

The term slows the flow of oil is misleading. These take a small amount of oil from the flow and clean it, then return it to the oil pan. As for clogging, you change these filters around 25,000 miles. Just change your regular filters at the proper interval.

BINGO. Small particles cause the most wear *in a normal engine* , because small particles are all that's left in the oil after it passes through the oil filter. If the larger particles were still in the oil (like if the oil filter's internal pressure-relief valve gets stuck open), I guarantee you they'll cause more wear than the smaller particles do.

Bypass filtration is a proven science. The FS-2500 units are some of the best on the market. I've run these units on my equipment for 20 years with excellent results. This demonstration shows how the filters remove suspended solids not dissolved solids. It is not going to make your diesel oil look like it is fresh out of the bottle due to dissolved solids in the oil. However, a laboratory oil analysis will show you that the FS-2500 does exactly what it says it does.

Oldandsickofit You guys. Read what Dan P. wrote, or go to the Amzoil website, or Bobtheoilguy , and do some research for crying out loud. I guarantee when you do you will regret posting these ignorant statements. Sure sign of "wet behind the ears" behavior. And to Azourecosee, Diesel engines get dirty a hell of a lot faster than internal combustion engines, and use diesel oil which has much higher TBN specification which means several times the detergent as non diesel oil. Dirty oil in any vehical means that the oil is doing its job. If oil is staying clean in your motor chances are the oil isn't cleaning it properly. That is what one of oils most important duty is to clean the engine by suspending the soot in your engine rather than allowing to collect around in places like bearings and races, or just falling to the bottom of the pan. Then upon change intervals you get rid of it. The idea of a bypass filter gets better the dirtier your oil will get, and that is why installing it on your over the road tractor is a must to make money by keeping your truck out of the shop over the life of it. I guarantee using one will save you several 10s of thousands of dollars. All of the owner operators use em. The ones who don't struggle and usually don't stay in thier own rig and wind up working for someone. This is a good subject to start learning how to think in a logical manner. There is hope for the ones who actually take time out to view the video. I mean the first step to becoming successful is being curious about the right things.

+Candace Valenzuela The color of the oil has no bearing on how the system is working on your application. If you take an oil sample you will see that your oil is as clean or even better than virgin oil. You can't see with the eye the particles that cause the wear in your engine, only and oil sample will give you those results. If you wipe oil from your dipstick on your hand does it wipe right off or stain it? It should wipe right off. That right there will tell you whether or not your system is working properly. If you have questions you should call 888-440-9056 and talk to someone.

It doesn't affect oil pressure. The system is such that they are plumbed in parallel and the bypass filter inlet is restricted to only take a small volume of oil, but its enough to eventually clean out even old dirty oil, new oil wont even get a chance to get any soot in it with these filter inline. Most people that run these end up extending drain intervals and getting their oil tested however. If you're just doing regular drain intervals the gains may be debatable.

There's no reduction in oil flow if you use an oil filter adapter. The adapter lets the main filter and the bypass filter to be parallel to each other. Put another way, imagine going down a road that eventually splits off into two directions. One road is called "main filter" and the other is called "bypass". Most cars take the main filter road and a few take the bypass road. However, both roads rejoin a little further down the way and ALL the cars go into the "engine mountain tunnel" together.

It is not in their best interest to offer filters that stop wear (If I made billions of dollars per year on parts wearing out I wouldn't either). The FS-2500 will dramatically extend your oil drain intervals AND completely stop the wear in your engine. This is a win for you and a win for us not so much for the engine & oil companies.

Big question for these filters. How much does the pressure drop across the filter increase by as it gets filled with particles and how much is the flow rate reduced. They never show pressure gauges or flow rates on these tests. To much of a pressure loss and reduced flow rate can be worse than only filtering out larger particles.

@crazydiesellover Also, I just read this on the FS-2500 site: "The FS-2500 meters the flow of oil within the matrix of the element itself. The average flow rate throughout the life of the element (10,000 miles for Class 8 trucks) is 1.5 gallons per minute. This is very slow relative to what your oil pump is displacing, but fast enough to keep up with contaminant creation/ingestion." Now, they even say that the rate is slower than your pump works...so why is this not a red flag to them?

.... the most damaging particles are as big as the filter misses.... Most filters don't do well below 10 or 20 microns... so obviously the most damaging particles are going to be like 2 microns to 7. But what I want to know is... how many ppl have tried this secondary filter idea? It seems like an awesome concept! ... so long as it doesn't reduce oil pressure - which is why most oil filters have a bypass valve and operate at 10-20psi.... not 80psi.

No, you can't use it to recycle your used oil, because your used oil is chemically degraded, not just dirty. Even if you thoroughly filtered the oil it would never lubricate properly again. Proper oil recycling requires chemical processes that strip-down the oil molecules and recombine them into new molecules of a suitable length to provide the required viscosity and lubricity.

Then they give those engines a warranty in my case I get a 3 year parts and labour warranty on rebuilt engines so they are willing to fit those filters knowing that they will cause the engine to fail so they have to pay for a rebuild or new parts. that doesn't make sense does it.

if it slows the flow of oil... can that really be a good thing? Moroso says... "After many years of designing and testing racing oil systems and related components, we’ve determined what’s most important to oil filtration. Many filter manufacturers stress the importance of filtering the smallest particles out of your engine’s oil, with references to "micron ratings" of 10 or less for a filter’s efficiency. With the help of research performed by filtration technology experts, Moroso engineers have determined that particles smaller than 20 microns in diameter are not large enough to produce engine wear. Furthermore, we’ve found that filters with extremely low micron ratings create an excessive pressure drop across the filter. They can be so restrictive that the filter by-pass valve can open. With the by-pass valve open, unknown to you-NO FILTRATION will occur! To maximize filter performance, Moroso Racing Oil Filters have a rating of 27 microns, which produces a maximum initial restriction of only 2.5 psi when tested to SAE j806! The result is less pressure drop, more flow, less oil by-pass and maximum filtration performance important in severe racing conditions." I'm gonna go, with Mor-O-So! The type of filter shown is a by-pass filter, not a primary filter. While the primary filter takes care of oil feeding directly into the engine, the by-pass filter connects to a port on the oil gallery with a small restricted line and takes a small part of the oil to the by-pass filter to remove very small particles and stuff that can cause the oil to break down prematurely and then return it to the oil pan. A by-pass filter's sole purpose is to extend the life of the oil and primary filter, not to be a primary filter.

Oh, that's objective. A company that sells filters tells you that their competitors...all of them...are relying on junk science, and that their own extremely cheap to produce filters are the right way to go, and you're good with that?

@@johnnannery2324 So far, I'm good with the science. What do you think about the science? The 10/20 micron claim? Honestly, I would like to see validated documentation to confirm that myself. It's rare that you see any kind of validated documentation for ANY product, much less oil filters. Go out into the world and read some advertising. Do you see anybody offering validated test documentation for their stuff? Moroso has a long standing excellent reputation in the autoparts and especially racing autoparts industry where racers can be very demanding. The Moroso racing filters mentioned here also have excellent reviews. I'm "good with that" as well. But no where does it say that the Moroso filters are "extremely cheap to produce". What data do you have to support that claim? And what if they are "extremely cheap to produce"? What's wrong with that? Maybe if that's true, their could be a number of Good reasons for that, and the savings and/or technology are being passed on to the consumer. Many computer components are like that. There are many products of all types that are better than the competitors products, but Don't hit the market to benefit us because they are Not "extremely cheap to produce". I don't see where the cost of production has any relevancy as to whether a product of any type is good or bad. The important thing is the performance. I'll also point out that in the world of high performance, racing oil filters, the Moroso filters can be considered something of a bargain, especially if their science is unique and effective.

Every truck that you pass has 10 gallons of oil, that's close to $300 a month in oil changes for some trucks. These cost around $1000 and can pay for themselves in a short time on large equipment.

The pressure of your bypass is set at a certain poundage, allowing oil to continue flowing, even if the filter is totally clogged. You CAN'T lose oil pressure with a bypass filter unless your circulatory system has a problem, like a bad pump.

+Gary Chandler Oh, and you are correct in the thought of lesser filtration, but the point is moot since better filtration is still better than low filtration. What would you prefer, say oil that passes thru a loose filter every 3000 revs, or oil that has gone thru a tight filter every 6000 revs?

  • @benjamingrimes3304

    @benjamingrimes3304

Nick Armock It's not a hard and fast rule but generally, synthetic media allows greater flow than cellulose media. If you compare the two under a microscope, you will notice that synthetic media fibers are not as closely "knit" as cellulose fibers. That being said, the synthetic media is usually made thicker in order to compensate for the more spaces between the fibers. This will impede oil flow a little bit but will still flow better than most (but not all) cellulose media while still providing adequate filtration. Also, because it is thicker, it will last considerably longer than standard, run-of-the-mill cellulose oil filters as it holds more crud. For example, I use the Fram Ultra on my car which uses 100% synthetic media. It filters down to 20 microns at over 99%, flows at *least* 10 GPM and can be run for 15,000 miles. All this info was provided to me by a guy who works for Fram. It's their best filter...by far. They are amazing and are beautifully constructed both inside and out. They are nothing like the cheaper Fram filters. Well, off to bed. Have a Happy Thanksgiving!
