AMAZING FILIPINO NOODLE SOUP! Must Try In Naga Bicol (Motor Vlog Philippines)
I HAVE NEVER HAD THIS NOODLE SOUP IN THE PHILIPPINES... AND IT IS A MUST TRY IN NAGA CITY!
After eating lomi, I was informed by locals in Naga to try "Kinalas". It is sort of a cross over between mami and lomi... with various toppings and side dishes. We decided to go to Mang Kok's and try a bowl! It was awesome, and the spicy condiments were super delicious!
After waking up in Naga City, we head out on our motors and end up getting hammered again by rain storms. There was a tropical storm up north and we were experiencing the tail end of it. But, that didn't deter us from exploring the back of another volcano here in Bicol. Where we found a beautiful lake. Lake Buhi is stunning, and very peaceful. We are hoping to find the smallest fish in the world here...
But for now... amazing Filipino noodle soup, and some volcano lake motor vlog adventures!

Oh wow, the rain out there is something else BUT the show must go on. Loving the chilled vibes out there, and your videos, and the Philippines is truly a "touring country" and I cannot wait to get out on the road myself over there. Looking forward to the next installment. :)
I really like this series of vlogs with you and Boy. Even though I feel anxious and concerned with all the rain driving/travel. I find the dynamic between you two to be fun, relaxing and chill. Great areas you both are traveling and sharing Love it! Thank you!

Buhi is my home town
Thanks for showing Mt. Iriga, miss the place where I grew up.
Filipino food as you have known is finished on the table, thats the reason for the condiment. What ever you are served, taste it and finish it according to your taste. Patis to add salt, vinegar to dip it with or add souness and pepper and chillies if you need to spice it up. We don't have rigid rules to eating, we have our soup together with the meal, unlike in the west you finish your soup before the meal and the soup is taken away.

@@BecomingFilipino hehehehe, filipinos eat the way they want to eat it, no one will take offense on how you will eat your food what we will take offense is you will get food you cannot finish. Many filipinos do get more than they eat because many times they intend to take home that which they can not consume.
Missing my hometown “ ang maogmang lugar”. Thanks for stopping by Kulas . Stay safe and enjoy the province of Bicolandia.

Foods to try in Buhi: fried kuhol (snails) fritters, pancit Bato/Buhi, sinarapan, tilapia. Check out the traditional manual weavers of blankets. Check out the tallest church belfry in the whole of Bicol. Also the church with one of the longest aisles.

Wow it's so yummy sir kyle Specialy wen u put chili sauce!! Oh no I'm hungry!! 👌👌🤩🤩👍👍😋😋
In the early 90's when I was working around Bicol selling legal drugs (as a med rep) my weekend breakfast in Naga City was pancit log-log served as a wide flat noodle. Kinalas wasn't popular yet and I'm not sure if it has been invented yet. Even the famous La Paz Batchoy from Iloilo was just beginning to become popular around the carenderias in the country. "Kinalas" in bicolano means to remove in english or gitangtang in bisaya. Why then is this bicolano noodle dish called that? What is removed? The answer is from the original meat which it is topped with - pork jaw. They remove the jaw of the pig and chop it into small pieces similar to what's being done with the pork mask for the sisig from Pampanga. Although, it's quite popular in Naga City, Naga's sister city of Legazpi hasn't exactly caught up with the kinalas fever. However, it is being served by some carenderias all around Albay province. The best one I tasted I think was in a carenderia in centro Camalig, Albay which is home of the bicolano delicacy "pinangat" and also considered as the culinary capital of my province. They served it spicy, although one can opt to have it not that way. Owing to the popularity and it's similarity to La Paz Batchoy, kinalas hasn't become popular outside Bicol. In Naga City though they have billboards promoting the dish. Only, connoisseurs can tell the difference between the two filipino noodle dishes. I just wish that it was served with that wide flat noodle like the pancit log-log was a long time ago which was the one I was used to and would've helped differentiate it from the La Paz Batchoy. I asked around why that variety of noodle shape isn't around anymore. They answered, it's most probably that the factory that made that has closed or has replaced that noodle that one with the thinner rounded noodle to cut cost in production. Well, Italians know their pasta by shape and distinguishes them by name.
There you are Kulas I waited 3 hours to repost you new vlog. I know you some small problema on your vlog. But still awesome, super like. As you said stay positive in everything! Power on!
Nice one Kulas, you're in my home town. Just about right that you tried Kinalas as it pretty matches your Filipino nickname Kulas. Have a great time in Bicol.

Kulas Free sabaw is actually a refill. Also, there are so many kinalas versions in Naga City. So you kinda choose which version is the best or that will suit your taste buds. There are beef and pork versions. Actually the term "kinalas" refers to the meat and fat from the pig's head. Kinalas in bicol means you take apart as in you pick and take apart the meat out from the pigs head or face. Then it becomes the meat in the soup. And the authentic kinalas soup comes with the pig's brain too. Also, the puto and turon or maruya is eaten together with kinalas. Like you bite a chunk of puto or maruya then take a sip of that soup. One of the famous kinalas place is Aling Cely's, Tya Kamot and many more. Just take a pick and best is ask the locals.

I heard the Tya Kamot literally came from her picking up the noodles and serving with hands. Very local

@@BecomingFilipino TYA contracted from the word TIYA or TIA meaning auntie in the local language. KAMOT means hands in the Bicol language. She became TYA KAMOT because she uses her bare hands in scooping the noodles.

I miss the monsoon rains! We don't have it here in Texas
Language tip of the day: "Ano ang pangnalan nito"? 'Pangalan' is Name. So your question translates to "what is the name of this thing?" Not bad, but wouldn't you prefer "what is this thing called?" So say instead, "Ano ang tawag dito?" (if the item is close to you) or "Ano ang tawag diyan (as Boy P. asked what the fish was called) if it's further away. Also, more often than not, 'ano ang' is contracted to 'anong'. Anong tawag dito, anong tawag diyan. Love that you speak the language at every opportunity. Power on!

You can eat kinalas anywhere here in camarines sur but have different taste because it depends on the sauce and on the noodles they use. I wish i could meet both of you personally before you leave bicol province.

Kinalas is somewhat a version of Batchoy in Western Visayas...but for me Lapaz Batchoy is the best..I missed to eat Kinalas too near in our work place there at Cararayan, Naga City and a restaurant ( i forgot the name, with a tilapia fishpond underneath) near the arc going to Pili and the Billboard sign " Welcome to Naga" 🤙💪🙏♥️🇵🇭..Amping, Halong kamu pirme ni BoyP Kulas..Power on!
