At almost 70 years old I am still jealous that you have a great father to teach you things. You have no idea how this will help you in the future with you and your family!

Ding Ding Ding There are so many things in this short video that the concept of Father/Son can carry over into the rest of life. I wish I had more years with my dad because he was a "teacher". So many kids now a day have no idea of the value of Parent/Child relationships. And sadly, today's parents have no *effing idea.

This is still one of my favorite videos of Jack. The way that he talks to you Cody and the interaction you guys have together is really great in this video.
I just wanted to take a moment to comment, I really enjoyed watching you teaching your son, not only did you teach him how to make an eye sore of a tree stump, you went ahead and took the time to plant some more trees, and more importantly you took it to the root and explained how it can be biblical as well,. Your an inspiration to many my friend. Keep up the great work and I hope you and your family have a blessed week. Dale
Came for the amazing trickshot, stayed for the amazing and patient teaching you give to your son
Jack's "training" saw is bigger than my saw. I love watching you raise your young man. It is an inspiration to me raising my 1 1/2 year old. Keep up the great work!
Handsome hardworking young man....looks like a determined “Bob the Builder”....it’s always nice to see father and son working together, priceless.....Thanks for adding in the analogies aligning GOD with nature and explaining the connection with the Word, if that makes sense.... GOD Bless all!!!
Love the video as always! Little tip when cutting the edges off a stump; use a pushing chain (top side of the bar). This way wood chip doesn't spray in your face and it help keep the saw up instead of pulling the chain in the dirt.
This man offered more than essentials to his son. That was a fine example of home schooling 101.
Years later, rewatching this just shows me how wholesome this is. Teaching our youth skills, safety, sustainability (replanting), all while having fun. Great job!
I've seen a number of your videos, but these ones with your son are a beautiful thing. Thank you as well for being open with your faith and sharing with your son, and us. Keep it up.
"And now you got to learn how to sharpen it." That made my day. It's ok to make mistakes but you have to learn to take responsability for them and make it right. A good experience to carry in life.
this is the Wranglerstar I know and love! This video has it all! Thank you for Sharing Mr. Cody!
Keep going Cody. "At the age of 16, I came to the conclusion my parents knew nothing about life. At the age of 21, I was surprised how much they had caught up in the previous 5 years." (Mark Twain)

The best teacher I ever had was and still is my Dad. My Father is now 84 and still imparts knowledge I never new existed. Love your channel. Well done.
Cody, we have been watching and learning so much from you, whether handling chainsaws, milling, planting trees, or whatever. Today I am inspired to include your bible study points into a nature walk we will have for the kids coming to our campground in the summer. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us...you’re changing our lives for the better on many levels!!!
This is absolutely inspiring and nostalgic in a sense. You're videos bring such a great joy to watch, seems as if i'm among the beautiful nature surrounding you and doing some awesome work. Awesome job, one day you and your son will look back at these videos of you two working together and cherish the moments you once had! Love your videos :D
Mr. Cody, tell Master Jack, the old Mark Twain quote,, "" I tried to never let my schooling, get in the way of my education''.
You have an amazing father to teach you. It is such a precious thing to cherish and to hold onto every minute spent learning from your father.
Absolutely one of the best channels on KZread. This is what being a parent is about passing on meaningful information to your children. Thanks for sharing this and may God continue to bless you.
A few things really impressed me, I like how you actually let him do some of the same work you were doing. I am sure he learns much more that way as opposed to just doing step and fetch it work. I like how you let him talk. You congratulate him when he is right and gently correct him when he is wrong. I also like how you did not get mad at him even when he spilt the water after you warned him about it.
One of the best channels on KZread...Thanks for your hard work!

Doesn't this video make you feel good? This was great!!Father and son working together. Teaching his son very useful skills.
I love your taking the time to share so much with your son. Physical AND spiritual. Well done dad.
I am 50 years old now and I wish I had a father had time for me like that when I was a kid. Sure my father tried his best but he was almost always working far from home.
I like how you challenge the youth to use the available tools to determine his path. Teacher, Father, Mentor. Nice going! Mike
So great to see a caring father, with his son, teaching some great life lessons. God Bless.
It's great you made a video with your son. My Dad made me help him with every project. I enjoyed our time working together. I learned so much. It's shaped me into the man I am today. You're a good father. A patient loving Dad. Your son will carry these values for the rest of his life and will hopefully teach his son in the same way.
"They weren't very Keen on me wearing Sorels" That was a good one! haha
First video of yours that I be seen. It looks like you live in a beautiful place, a great place to raise a family for sure. It looks like you have a marvelous relationship with your son. The icing on the cake was when you brought the scriptures into the picture. Thank you for taking the time to make a presence on KZread. Blessings
I enjoyed seeing the relationship u have with ur son more than I did learning how to get rid of the stump. Great team.!
Great quality time with the young man! Taking time like this gives him skills he can use not to mention providing a fine example of patience and encouragement to use with his kids. Too many kids are stuck on video games.
Thats the best schooling anyone can have. Great video
Just went in the woods with my 7 year old daughter yesterday. It's so nice to work together Even if it was faster alone. It's funny to see him make that sawing motion also.
I've enjoyed watching your videos for a few years now. Learn something valuable each time. I really love and respect the tone of voice you use when speaking to the camera or to your wife or son. Don't know if you've ever taught in a classroom setting, but that tone is excellent. Thank you again for sharing so much of yourself and your work, and your bonds with your family. Mike
the music, the outdoors, crisp air, father and son working. WOW. Awesome. I feel almost right at home with yall
You and your son remind me of me and my dad on the ranch and the joy we got from working the field and soaking up the beauty that is nature. thanks for making me smile when I watch your vids :)

Not so bad when you have an electric sharpener.
If you cut the stump with the top of the bar instead of the bottom, you will push the chips in under the stump and hold it up without wedges! You want a shorter bar than the diameter of the stump though so the chips don’t just come out the other side.

Loved the "sneak a preach" at the end. Wonderful family and good for you setting the example. Our family appreciates your values and videos. Thank you sir.
Hey Cody, I love the way you teach, coach and encourage lessons to your son!
When your son is hammering in the wedges, you can see the skills and brain connections growing. Practicing and learning how to do something useful, heck won't find that in a most college classes now days! BTW, my daughter and sons know wood splitting and chainsaw basics. My methods are simple and safest I can think of. Safety over what takes more effort any day!

Trees such as oaks, elms, pines and firs have taproots. For those the deep central plunge cut works. There are a lot of trees that spread with no taproot. For those a stump plunge cut can wreck a saw.

halnywiatr You can never ID a tree based on roots. The same species of tree could have a taproot, heart root, sinker root, etc because the development of roots correspond with the environment that the tree is found in and not species. Typically, you'll see taproots in deep, loamy soils and other roots such as a sinker root will typically be found in high water table environments.

🌷 EXCELLENT tutorial🌷 THANK YOU so much for an excellent forestry lesson! I am almost seventy, and don't remember seeing a better Lesson, than this one, you gave today! Also, it was a pleasent treat for me to hear you instructing your Son, of how to, best do, the different things. I thought that was GREAT...and then you showed Him, and US, how we must stay connected to God; the creator, so we can pull in the spiritual nurtients we must have to live and grow, like the little trees do from the Father tree! You understand forestry and you understand Christianity! And the nice thing about it, you're a good teacher!...teaching your SON and US, all these important principles of LIFE ! 😃
Great to see a dad and lad out there honouring the lords creation.. Much love from England
Great that you’re taking time to learn Jack the tools of your trade, & in some things learning together sharing your wisdom!
Thankyou very much for taking the time to explain the circle of life to your boy. It's easy to see your going to lead your family to greatness from being so wise. I wish you and your family all the very best with all your future endeavors. Take care.
This is why I keep a normal handle for my 660. If I need to stump I can swap the wrap handle for it and not have to dig a moat.
My father died when I was about Jack’s age. So I didn’t have many of the opportunities that other young men had. I really appreciate the way you teach your son, the way you work with him. And I love how you can weave scripture into the lesson…
God bless you for taking the time and teaching that young man
I was roughly around 9 or 10 when my own father started to teach me how to use chainsaws, work on cars, build my own tools, etc... Those are lessons I will never forget and nor will your son. Good stuff.

It is so wonderful to see you having your boy out with you and not only showing him the value in a days work, but teaching him, letting him do, then talking with him about it and finally wrapping everything up with a discussion on how what you just did relates to Scripture. So refreshing to see. Unfortunately, most youth of today will never learn skills like your Jack is learning and will never be able to provide for themselves. Great job, love the vids.
Gotta amend what your son said....using the same tools to kill a tree as to plant a tree. You're not killing trees...you're harvesting them. I love how you're teaching your son (and us) the value of what the land offers us. I'd wager that we are polarized, in many ways, but I really appreciate your channel and what you show here. You are not the only person to think this way but there is a lesson learnt from doing this as the father explained. I myself thought it is a time wasting exercise and the risk of dulling the chain too great but after watching and seeing then hearing the knowledge he passes to his son I tip my hat to the man. This is not a Logging productivity lesson .
Alone in my appartment , 26 years old, middle of the city in Argentina. Wishing I had this childhood. What a great dad. Today is fathers day here, congratulations!!!
What a very awesome teaching experience for your son. Glad that you had shown this one. I really enjoyed it. I hope your son did also
All I wanted to look at originally was cleaning my chain saw air filter and then got side tract to all your videos. Amazingly it ended with the most important thing you teach people. JESUS!!!!! Man that is so great to see that and that you teach your son about that wonderful Man and how all of life connects to Him. As an ex-farmer you are so right, nothing better than nature to teach us to be humble in the eyes of God. God bless you and your family!
That's nice but you planted those young trees too close to each other.
Started watching your videos because ive been doing some chainsawing in Oklahoma (Cedar trees) and really enjoyed learning from them. BUT when your started talking about your Bible study from that morning I could not hit the thumbs up button enough!!! Keep these videos going. We need more men to watch these!!
Great training and passing on the torch to the young men. I really enjoy passing on the knowledge to my son and daughter.
