OMG it took me 2 full days to mask my kitchen like that. I absolutely could not mask with the plastic sheeting. It was like I need 6 hands to hold it from folding onto itself and catching the tape. Had to toss it every time and finally switched to paper but couldn't get the paper/tape roller (same one you have) to line up for more than 3 inches. LOL.

85% prep 10% paint 5% clean up , it's all about the prep, The only thing I do different is I bring the cabinets and drawers back home to my shop and spray. I prefer to stay out of a customers home as much as possible, since I paint kitchens solo, my job time is much higher then yours, 7-10 days on a average, also depending on any glaze/antiquing work added to the finish. If I have a customer who can't afford a sprayed finish and is on a tight budget, I offer a brushed and roll version; (using a Dunn Edwards primer/ oil base product) and the time is cut down usually to two days. Great video, this can help teach all the new and seasoned painters who stayed away from painting cabinets.

Not to be funny but if they can’t afford it then stay away from the job. Why waste your time and energy, that’s the issue, everyone is a painter nowadays and everyone who watches a TikTok video wants to do the same, so much competition that charges people less than what the job is worth

When I mask cabinets, i find it helpful to use 2 inch tape to give your outboard facing tape more purchase on the masking, and cabinets, and this makes the "double bind" more secure, which should help prevent blowouts.

We use masking paper with lacquer proof green tape. Lay down blue painter's tape first. Paper doesn't flake, so no need for extra expensive plastic masking. Run the paper wider than what you need and wrinkle it back, afixing it with blue or green tape. Just to note, blue tape doesn't like to stick too well on other blue tape.

if your not painting as a job u can just use regular plastic but u have to wipe on a mixture of cooking oil and baking soda. the baking soda neutralises the acid in the spray. and the oil dosent dry out so the baking soda wont just fall off from using something like water. or maybe water works too just test it out

Michael Perez, the only issue I presume would be the dust carrying over into the customers cabinets and creating a large mess within; that creates a recipe for displeased customer. After plastic and prep sand. Start at a higher section and use a air compressor air and lightly remove dust, then vacuum, at the end I use tack cloths or a lint free cloths several times to make sure. Another trick that works well is to tent off work area then cover the cabinet and drawer faces only ( but plastic stove, fridge ect..)then prep sand, wipe down cabinet surface; then vacuum counters and floors. You then use a damp cloth, wipe the floors and counters and finish cover prep and place clean paper on the counter space and floor area.

Did everything as far as a tremendous amount of prepping ,masking and door removal to then spraying the insides and out two years ago because I thought that's what these job entails being that I've never done cabinets before. Now as I'm typing thinking damn isn't this what body shops do as well.🤨😂

We are so disappointed. We just had our cabinets painted and can't believe the the mess and work we are left to clean. The cabinet doors were taken to another location and sprayed , everything was brushed and rollered. We removed quite a bit from drawers and cabinets to clear openings. He didn't even come close to doing anything like this to protect our things. He did a wonderful job, was very kind and friendly but right now we are overwhelmed and angry. Our guess is that when he did the light sanding he used a vacuum he brought and that was the issue. Guessing it wasn't cleaned out and or filter was filthy and what was going in was being pushed out into our hone. We took pictures, we have 4 rooms that are in a blanket of white. Well I have vented , doesn't Change anything , but anyone watching and reading .... be vigilant. Now my old stained cabinets don't seem so bad. To top it of we all suffer from respiratory issues from Covid and I already was allergic to dust, we did spend a lot of his work time here gone because of these issues. They won't be receiving what they think.
