Me too, it's incredible how far we have come in such little time. You can watch the wright brothers try to make an airplane and fail several times on KZread. Then watch this. It's crazy.

In my opinion, this is the most beautiful heavy hauler to ever go wheels up.

Let me tell you. I lived in Long Beach, CA for thirty years and am an airplane spectator. C-17s were built at the complex next to the airport. I saw these glorious planes all the time. From where I lived I could hear them. It was so exciting. Huge roar of the engines. I even like their slightly menacing appearance. And the approach to Long Beach Airport was a couple of hundred feet directly above a parking lot where I could stand and look up and see the rows of rivets directly overhead!. And their capabilities! They can take off and land on your driveway! Then there is their load capacity! And, have you seen any current photographs of C-17s transporting troops and civilians in Afghanistan? Also, it is so cool to see how many countries are using them. I've gone on for long enough. I hope you can experience a C-17 up close. Cheers. 91121

It never fails to amaze me... it seems like such little surface area is turned downwards, and then this immense piece of machinery just goes straight off the ground... Amazing

One of the coolest things about my career in the U.S. Army was to be near and fly on the C-17 and C-130 (jumped out of a few too).

It's all about thrust and lift.

It is fun flying in one of these babies. I have been in it a bunch of times going to and from various deployments. We had an amazing combat landing into Baghdad. This plane is so agile! It also is a great flying hospital too! I was medevac'd out of Iraq in a C-17. I was very well taken care of. There were about 30 of us some of which were in the planes version of an ICU. Amazing stuff.

For a plane if that size I've always found the C-17 to be elegant and beautiful in the way it flys

love it! big beautiful plane the sound of those jet engines is awesome when you're flying those big beautiful machines God be with you!

the angle from 2:21 to 3:03 captures the aggressive look of the aircraft beautifully. great vid and camera work for such an awesome aircraft.

Love to watch these large birds take off ! They are amazing to watch such power take to the sky

Built and delivered out of Long Beach CA. Fight tests were done at Edwards Air Force Base and out over the Pacific in and area called W291. Landing/ takeoffs in dirt/gravel runways, Backing up, low level cargo and troops drops. Standing water takeoffs / landings, Hard landings, aborted takeoffs, air refueling, stall overs, engine flameout and relights, etc.. Best cargo aircraft ever built. To bad McDonnell Douglas didn't make a commercial version.

Always amazes me how such a massive aircraft can get into the air so quickly.

Great footage! This is my favourite badass cargo beast!

Smooth flying. Two very subtle but precise pitch adjustments during the second segment climb. Roll commands were small enough to prevent large spoiler deflection. Nice job.

It lifts off like the beast that it is. 💛🙏🏼

yes lol first of all you dont get that close to a military base, there are armed soldiers all over the base... I dont watch tv but a friend told me and after I saw a video on youtube, no way the video is real lol its all a show!

Very nice Vid work. I'm fortunate that I live in a city with an MCAS base. I get to see these and other great aircraft take off and land every day.

I swear these guys did a low pass over my backyard about 500 feet up near Toronto in the suburbs maybe about a year and a half ago. I was just smoking a cigarette and I hear the massive roar of this aircraft, but scanning the sky it was nowhere insight... When all of the sudden this giant beast was directly on top of me completely blocking the sky, in a slight banked turn, a could not believe how low it was it was absolutely insane. Props to whoever was flying the thing !

The power of this airplane is awesome. Wow!

Thankfully at Dover AFB in delaware we have lots of these and you can see them takeoff from the road and you can see thunder over dover air show. We also have a lot of c5s as well so if you like cargo planes and you don't live too far from dover afb you should go and plane spot there.
