The VFX is where the bulk of the movie budget goes too, so much work to try and make it look realistic. But it is surprising to see how much of this is the real actors and how much is VFX. Gone are the days when practical effects were used to make movies, nearly everything is digital now.

Maybe if film makers put as much effort into the script as they do the visual effects then maybe the movies would be worth watching

Can't be bothered to watch actioners anymore, the plot is definitely an after thought now. CG has it's place but like you say a decent script and some effort at plausible story line would go a long way with people who don't want brainless pap...

Amazing how during T2 CGI was only in it's infancy, yet with a mix of practical AND CGI and acting, is a far superior movie that stands up today!! RIP Stan Winston.

Definitely! The liquid FX for T1000 were mind-blowing, and still looks awesome. Same goes for the miniature sets, forced perspective and front & rear projection. That's why its one of the most iconic FX movies of the '90s.

What? You continued watching after JC got shot? I went out...

And just think folks, the visual effects and stunts in T2 were almost all practical and in-camera. There were very few CG clips. The moral of the story... practical stuff looks real because IT IS REAL.

actually there was a lot of CG in T2 but it was always mixed with practical effects and/or real set pieces. The CGI was a complement, not a replacement.

@@lajeandom I had the old T2 laserdisc deluxe set with a myriad of behind the scenes footage. There were very few CG shots. Most were models and/or in-camera effects shots such as true stunts (full scale and forced perspective tricks), animatronics, and specialized makeup.

@@lajeandom Your mindset is stuck in 1990s. CGI could actually very well replace practical effects and it would also look a lot better. Practical effects are a thing of the past mostly. Doing it digitally is better and cheaper and gives you a lot more control over the final outcome.

It's so amazing that even simple dust that shoots up when you fall down are VFXed...

Wow! That was incredible. So much work goes into VFX shots to make it look real. Even the helicopter crashing is all CGI. And the blue screen swap outs are amazing. Well done!

6:26, Arm getting blown off a solider's body in the helicopter explosion was some hyper realistic details added in that sequence there, wow! Its just a damn pity the film doesn't help such tight details being placed into a rather lackluster movie though!

you have to appreciate the work that goes into VFX. many may think it's lazier/easier than practical effects. it's not.

Jimmie bastrixer was just saying the same thing about the first Back To The Future. 90% of that movie is practical effects.

90% CGI and 10% real scenes

Damn, how many seconds actors actually acted in this movie? The whole thing is CGI! Dont get me wrong, the effects were great, but I didn't realize how much of it was cgi

The only actor that will actually have the balls to do his own stuns for real is none other than Tom Cruise himself. Take an example of MI: FALLOUT. He literally jump off from a cargo plane hundreds of time to get the perfect shot. Flew an actual helicopter and even hanging on helicopter hundreds of feet in the air.

If you feel that its fake its because CGI failed to pass the believable test. This is the problem with movies glorified with CGI nowadays, it looks fake and everyone knows.

The hyper realism in this movie was insane to watch in theatres. Crazy how much of this was done with VFX. Imagine where movies will be in the future 🤯
