Nicely done. For years I made my living as a glass artist and did a great deal of sandblasting. For most work I used a pressure pot system as it uses a lot less air to deliver more sand. The syphon system has its place as well but uses a lot of air to deliver a smaller amount of sand. With adequate air delivery it can do a wonderful job. When I first started I was using a 20 hp Quincy compressor and later a 15 hp Quincy. For most work I found that a 10 hp or two 5 hp compressors could keep up with the needed supply. Anything less I would have to spend more time waiting for the compressor to catch up than actual sandblasting. My last project was a 6 foot square bathroom window. I had to do it on site with a single 5 hp compressor and a syphon gun. What would have been a 40 minute job with a bigger compressor and a pressure pot took me nearly 3 hours. Much of which was waiting on the compressor to recharge.

The various methods you tried and the issues with each was interesting to watch, thanks for taking the time to experiment and share with us ... your final method of the tube running down into the sand collection area is exactly how I did it 👍.......... but I feel that you went through all of that to end up with basically a bog standard sand blasting gun with replaceable ceramic nozzles, with air coming in one tube and the sand coming in another!

For when the flow rate is "yes." Corundum is harder wearing than ceramic, if your abrasive is quartz. Crushed fluorite or calcite won't abrade most iron alloys. Ceramic is sintered aluminosilicates, some of which are on par with most tool steel, but not all of it, especially the dominant clay mineral fraction.

In one of his masterclass videos, Dan Gelbart (KZread --> search --> Dan Gelbart) proposes to use supermarket-checkout-barcode-scanner windows instead of a glass pane. Apparently, these have a scratch-resistant diamond coating, and are optically clear (as they need to be for a scanner), while being relatively cheap (as they are mass-manufactured for this specific application). The hard diamond coating gives them a nearly infinite lifetime on a sandblasting cabin. Do you have thoughts on this?
