Amazfit GTR 2 Smartwatch Review

Ғылым және технология

The $179/£159 Amazfit GTR 2 smartwatch looks great, and the software problems that held the previous version back have been cured. It's well worth your attention.

    For the ones who don't know, amazfit will update the watch in the next months to have 90 sports modes and if their update track is to be believed the battery life and more features will come too. Also the side bottom button is a shortcut button you can put anything in there to be triggered not just the workout modes. Cheers

    Really not feeling the tacky bezel on this one unfortunately. Otherwise really like the rest of the design, glad they added some more watchfaces and hopefully they fixed the disaster that was the GPS on the GTR/GTS. My Pace worked great for 3.5 years without any issues but my wife's GTS continues to get GPS "tweaks" that do nothing to improve the tracking quality. I need to see something similarly reliable to some of the earlier models before I buy Amazfit again.

    Been looking for a replacement for my old Garmin Vivosmart HR, and this watch just recently popped up here in the US, and got added to my list of possible watches. Sounds like it's a really great deal, and has almost everyhting I want, but for at least $100 less than other options on the list. Thanks for the review, I really do find it very enlightening!

    @@UnboxallTV In not training for a marathon or anything, just since skateboarding occasionally, and mostly just want to track steps and keep track of my 46 year old heart and overall health. And the Garmin Venu SQ is one of the watches also on the list. But a rehire I saw of that one by Quantified Scientist showed it was reading SpO2 a little low. Probably not a big deal as long as you can see trend changes.

    I paid $113 (sale) for GTR 1 on Amazon for the US. Battery lasted 15+ days using a lot. Not as feature rich as GTR2 but gps, sleep and steps where pretty good compared to Fitbit blaze. Resting heartrate looked decent too. Heartrate in real-time seemed higher than Fitbit while walking fast on a track but for low $100 it’s not bad. Thinking of returning it for new model but not sure if newer features are so much worth $70 more with cut in battery life.

    @@tomoprime217 I feel like the SpO2 and music storage alone are enough to be worth the little extra cost (I'm seeing it at $123 right now) , and battery life looks pretty similar. My current watch goes about 6 days, so either way is an improvement.

    Great review bu I need further info about the watch; GPS accuracy and SpO2 implementation. Does it continuously record SpO2 levels during sleeping and show it as a graph like continuous HR tracking graph. I have a Stratos and not sure about buying this or waiting for the Stratos 4. I mainly go for long bicycle rides (min. 32km) so accurate GPS and HRM is very important for me as well as sleep information with SpO2 tracking similar to Garmin Vivoactive 4.

    @@GoForGold256 I don't do reviews, I am only a concious consumer. If both this one have and Stratos 4 will have worse than average HRM sensor implementations for the time, like Stratos, I'm going for a Garmin Vivoactive 4 or 4s even though they're much more expensive.

    @@OmarQadan That's normal operation like every other smart/sport watches and is totally okay. My concern is about the accuracy because my Honor Band 5 is much more accurate than my Amazfit Stratos. This is a deal breaker for me and I also need a continuous SpO2 tracking feature. For example Garmin Forerunner 245 records SpO2 continuously like about four hours into sleep and not the whole night which is also a deal breaker for me. Garmin Vivoactive 4 records the whole night's sleep and also can record 7/24 SpO2 (my knowledge is based on reviews).

    I see they still haven’t fixed notification paragraphing and word spacing (“Payment to P atreon”) from personal experience it can be a lot worse than that example. I wouldn’t recommend this watch to anyone giving this reason. I sent my T-Rex back because it makes notifications to hard to decipher what they say at a quick glance.

  • @UnboxallTV

    @UnboxallTV

    Notifications are pretty poor I agree. The software generally is WAY better than on the T Rex though. I’d also add that notifications on any smartwatch outside of the Apple Watch are poor.

    @@UnboxallTV thank you for the review though, I’ve been waiting for a UK video so I could hopefully see the English notifications. I was going to get the GTR 2 if this problem had been fixed because I was happy with everything else about my T-Rex and the price you can’t argue with. GPS was spot on when running and HR monitor was fairly ok. But since the launch of the Apple Watch SE for around only £100 more for an iPhone user I just think if you can you should stretch your budget and if you can live without the blood oxygen sensor, AOD and added days battery life.
