My first experience of building a beautiful wood ship from Amati: The Lady Nelson in scale 1/64. I tried to show the entire assembling process and had fun to animate the different shapes and the rigging. Especially the planking was a totally new experience for me. Hope you like the dancing parts finding together and shape the ship...
I used a lot of Amati needful tools, like
"Waterline marker"
"Form-a-Strip"
"Keel klamper"
"Electric plank bender"
and painted with alclad II colours.
I replaced the board canons with self designed moveble 3D prints.
Music: "The boy got skills" from Max McFerren

Y'know, it's not often I see these sorts of assembly videos, where the components come together in an animated fashion as if they were not mere inanimate objects. This is just fantastically done here.

I can't even fathom how you could possibly make this video. Amazing.
This just might be the best single video on how to build a wooden ship model...just fantastic. I disagree with some commenters...I liked the music...but the real magic is the combination of solid construction techniques, captioned "tips" about drying times etc., and the stop/action filming...just brilliant. Well done, Sir, well done indeed.
I've already pressed thumbs-up even before watching the vid because I myself is a ship moddler too and I'm amazed by your great craftsmanship!

Tom, I'm sure I don't just speak for myself when I say how much I appreciate the very many hours that go into not just the model making, but the stop-motion and post production of your superb videos. As a small example, the canon appeared and were in place in seconds and yet, knowing you, these will have been meticulously detailed. And then, as ever, there's the rigging, which is always next-level. Thank you.

Just watched your video with my 6yr old daughter we where both amazed by your skills, what an amazing model again TOM. I wondered why we haven't seen a video from you for a while this must have taken ages. I'm glad she didn't ask me to build her one of these because it would be nowhere near as good as yours, we can't wait for the next video. Stay safe and best wishes from NZ

The Lady Nelson must have been quite a handful under sail, having that kind of weight and profile. Just a hand tiller to maneuver such an exquisite vessel. She must have shuddered under a quarreling sea, when trying to tack into the gale. Lovely girl.
What an emotion to look at this vid ! I was very young in the town where I was born when I past hours staring at the glass windows of Amati. This town is Turin in Italy. What a pleasure to watch this. And really, congrats for this innovative way of implementing the video quality. Nice and pleasant.

these moels look amazing and i have tried on several occasions to find a channel like this. But one thing i would love with this is the history of whatever is being modeled as it is being built. that facinates me as much as the models.

You are crazy! I have to hand it to you. I have a wooden model ship I started years ago and worked on for what seemed like ages and I only got the frame built and shaped and then haven't touched it since.
