I follow the H1 path from La Gola di San Martino, in Abruzzo, all the way to the top of Monte Amaro (2793m) in the Maiella National Park.

With everything I need for two days in a 10kg backpack I pass through various habitats until I reach the lunar landscape and my place for the night, the Bivouac Pelino at the very top, where the temp dropped to 0°c overnight.

Day one: 17.5km, 2400 meters of elevation gain, 8.5 hours trekking.
Day two: 15km, 2400 meters of negative elevation, 6 hours trekking.
