السلام عليكم Thank you for acknowledging and mentioning that we shouldn't celebrate birthdays. But Just like celebrating birthdays is haram, celebrating any thing that repeats itself every year is haram. You can celebrate someone's birth when they are born, but don't repeat that every year. You can celebrate getting married but don't repeat that every year etc. I think that starting a new trend of getting your mom gifts ON your birthday and making it an annual celebration is also not allowed in islam. Just because we come up with a new creative thing, which is not done by other people and sounds good doesn't mean that it can't be a bid'ah (innovation) . I am not discouraging getting your family gifts randomly. I'm talking about these specific occasions. I hope I got the message across as intended. بارك الله فيكم

i see what you’re trying to say but bidah is innovation into the religion. we are not attributing these things to being prescribed by the quran or the prophet pbuh. traditions are not haram as long as they don’t conflict with shariah. Allahu Aalm. may Allah purify our intentions and keep us on the straight path.

@@lamiaislam1 you are right. Maybe using the word bid’ah might not be correct. But when people celebrate birthdays, they are not relating it to religion, still haram. National day, mother’s day, friends day, valentines day etc. are also not religious annual celebrations still Haram because the Prophet (PBUH) said the we have only 2 Eids. Hadith reference: Sunan Abi Dawud 1134 When the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) came to Medina, the people had two days on which they engaged in games. He asked: What are these two days (what is the significance)? They said: We used to engage ourselves on them in the pre-Islamic period. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: Allah has substituted for them something better than them, the day of sacrifice and the day of the breaking of the fast. Again celebrating on random days, even every week or everyday and giving gifts is not wrong. The wrong is in specifying one particular date and celebrating on that date every year. Note: Celebration can be in any form not just cutting a cake or getting gifts. And Allah knows best. Please enlighten me if you believe I’m wrong.

May ﷲ bless amanah with many more years to come. May she be a means for you both to enter paradise. Just a small reminder (I hope you don’t mind me mentioning this - my only reason is to benefit my brothers and sisters) - but giving gifts to our mothers / parents on our birthdays is not something the prophet ﷺ did or the companions so we shouldn’t make it an “Eid - something we do every year” but rather we just appreciate our parents often, and give gifts whenever but most especially on Eid. Once again, please do not take any offence to this, I genuinely mean no ill will towards anyone but only want the best for all of us who are part of one Ummah.

Akhi…the niyya you have is a good one - but remember the devil is deceptive. So it’s better to take this form of celebrating your birthday (because it still is celebrating your birthday - irrespective of it being about you or your mother) to the scholars - and ask them if this is permissible. Surah Isra 23-25 For your Lord has decreed that you worship none but Him. And honour your parents. If one or both of them reach old age in your care, never say to them ˹even˺ ‘ugh,’ nor yell at them. Rather, address them respectfully. And be humble with them out of mercy, and pray, “My Lord! Be merciful to them as they raised me when I was young.” Your Lord knows best what is within yourselves. If you are righteous, He is certainly All-Forgiving to those who ˹constantly˺ turn to Him.

So basically you are introducing newly invented matters into the religion by corrupting your daughters to do something on their birthday which our beloved Prophet (PBUH) never did. If you want to lead yourself astray go ahead. But you also want to lead your children astray? Fear Allah brother. And don't use the excuse of "it's a good thing what i'm doing" Good bid'ah is still considered bid'ah. Allah will question YOU, the head of the household, about this. You can teaxh your daughter to be selfless without engaging in bid'ah you jahil. I weep for your poor little girl.

Al Salamu alaykum, you are wrong in regards to this matter firstly there was no need to attack Amannah. what are the conditions of a biddah? These three conditions are: (الإحداث) - Introducing something new (الإضافة) - Ascribing it to the religion (عدم الدليل الشرعي) - Absence of Shariah evidence [for this newly-introduced matter] in either a general way or a specific way. I never prescribed this to the religion I just gifted my wife gifts. Birthdays are not haram because they are biddahs they are haram because it is تشبه بل كفار imitating the kufar as it’s a social celebration rather then a Islamic one. What you are stating here means someone learning a new juzz they cannot celebrate. Someone accomplishing something cannot be done however there are rules to declare something a biddah ie mawlid you are prescribing something to the deen and then calling it “a good biddah” is haram. "Every newly-invented thing is a bid'ah (innovation), every bid'ah is a going astray, and every going astray will be in the Fire." Lastly when you give dawah there are also principles you need to take into account. You called me a jahil (ignorant) meaning you give me the excuse of ignorance before you pass judgement however I forgive you and give you the excuse of ignorance and forgive for the sake of Allah. O you who have believed, let not a people ridicule [another] people; perhaps they may be better than them; nor let women ridicule [other] women; perhaps they may be better than them. And do not insult one another and do not call each other by [offensive] nicknames. 49:11 I say what I say and Allah knows best may Allah protect Amannah and all Muslims we all make mistakes as we are all learning. The best of Muslims are those who do tawbah
