I am 37 years old and have seen many inagurations. I have seen Maya Angrlou speek, I was never brought to tears before. Amanda Gorman was and is amazing.

Gotta say James’s questions were brilliants. So lovely to see how they appreciated each other so much and bounce off each other so we’ll.

Young people like Amanda are the reason we need to continue to support the Arts in America. Life cannot just be STEM.

My goodness, yes. Lost amid the debates on school reopenings is a subject that has too long been underplayed -- if not ignored -- in discussions about education in America: the arts. The quest for truth and beauty is an integral part of our humanity. We starve our children's souls if we don't introduce them to this quest early on. Even on a more prosaic level, the arts can be lifelines for children: Theater, music, and other performing arts can help teach us to work together, to support and assist one another, to celebrate life by gathering together -- all essential pieces of what it means to be human. Now, though, whether they're staring into screens at home or [anti-]social distancing and muzzled with masks at school, children aren't getting that. Not all toxins are physical, nor is all death. The human spirit, along with our physical and economic well-being, needs cultivation and nurturance. Please, let's bring the arts back to "center-stage" in our discussions about education policy and funding.

Listening to Amanda Gorman, you cannot but see the stark difference in standards between her and Trump's Kayleigh (Barbie) McEnany, both from Harvard. You get this feeling that one got there by her own merits, the other, I suspect, just like the Orange Buffon, got someone to sit for her SATS. It's like chalk and cheese. Harvard, Amanda just redeemed your reputation. Ms. Gorman is the real deal!

@Richard Pierpoint - “Wise beyond her years” is a reference to her youth, which is almost always accompanied with beauty. I know a 6 year old who is wise beyond his years...but it doesn’t make him a good poet.

This young woman is truly special. I just realised that even with as many interviews that she has been giving, she always shares something new. So you don't feel like you're watching the exact interview time and again.

Whenever one feels hopeless about the future, play this video and the sun will shine in your heart.

I'm in Denmark and I LOVED seeing her recite that poem 💙. My Mum who's blind called me and said, that the poem was her favorite thing of the ceremony 🤗. She was also very moved by the President's speech, but LOVED the poem.

I’m so starstruck after watching. So much poise and confidence. Ananda is a vivacious intelligent role model for young women. Can’t wait to see more.

I watched the inauguration yesterday and found Amanda's poem completely and utterly captivating, it spoke of hope on many different levels and after a year that has been horrific around the World...not just in the US...it shone a light, albeit a small one, at a very dark time. Oh, and I loved this clip...it was difficult to tell who was more awestruck at times to be in the presence of the other, that is a recipe for a brilliant interview.

This is what empathy for all human beings is. It's also why art and creativity matters as much as science, maths, history, languages.

She is giving us all hope...as a Canadian disheartened and heartbroken about the last four years in America...she is a shining light.

She's such an inspiring person! I loved her poem. I remember she left quite an impression back in May when John Krasinski was doing his youtube show and Oprah joined the zoom call. I'm 65 y.o. Poetry for me has been Robert Frost, until yesterday when I witnessed Amanda Gorman deliver "The Hill We Climb". Now I realize that it is doubtful I will be alive to witness the tremendous things this incredible person will accomplish in the course of her life. That thought deeply saddens me.

That's the job of poetry - to capture in words the things we all recognise and feel but may not know how to express.

@M M Apparently, irony is lost on you, because life is full of cliches, which is why they exist. You're entitled to your opinion, but to say that it wasn't good, is disingenuous of you and frankly, it shows your inability to recognize individuality and freedom. Poetry is about self-reflection, expression, sharing, promoting, and indelibility and she mastered that perfectly.

@M M You clearly missed my point and you're struggling too hard to dissect her work due to your inability to accept differences. Who rejected your writings? Apparently, someone relevant to you has never encouraged you to be original. It's very unfortunate, but you have such a negative disposition and an even more negative future, if you don't remove the black shades from your mind that are blocking your blessings.

While I was listening to her, I was thinking about those who stormed the Capitol. It is so sad that those people call themselves the American patriots. This wonderful young woman gave so many people joy and hope. What can they give? Only hatred.

The nobel laureate of literature of my island St.Lucia, who has passed on had a birthday yesterday. His soul must be in joy listening to this young poet. She is an inspiration ...she makes me see the validity in my work in speech, and reading and building of confidence by using the arts. Thank you James and Amanda. Peace and Love for the new year

She’s had a busy day with many interviews, with her words of hope. She’s brilliant and lovely and I’m Crazy over her. I want to hear more of her poems. The Inauguration was more amazing because of her contribution. She was the highlight for me.

I teared up when she told the story ending with not wanting to be those two black girls getting caught for trespassing to give James a hug. I've never had the balls to be who I know I am because of the colour of my skin, I try to not stick out blend in and be a quiet success because if I'm too loud they'll take me out because I'm too brown.

Congress and Senate should have joint session every month and Amanda should read those members her poems to bring them to their senses.

Wow, 6 years younger than me, but making history and being a part of it as well. This is one of those moments where I'm truly proud to be an American. When I first watched her recite that powerful poem, I couldn't breathe, I couldn't stop tearing up, I couldn't stop shouting "YES!!!!". Truly inspiring!

It's true...the world is getting dumber

So dignified and graceful yet so down to earth and charming. She will do great things in the world.

She’s got great charm and unique style. Very encapsulating. Her take on life and of the present, is defining & necessary for the moment.

Empty is relative. She didn't see an empty place. She saw the monument and the flag. Everything in the space had symbolism.

She needs to do a Talk Show of her own. She's such a joy to listen to

I'm so glad Corden said it. She was my favorite part of the preformances. She was so incredible. Young Lady, my son has a speech impediment, that was SO inspiring on ALL THE LEVELS. ♡♡♡
