Amalgamation House: A Historic Structure In Deplorable State

The Amalgamation House is, among other things, the location for the signing of the treaty which merged the Northern and Southern protectorates to make Nigeria one entity in 1914.
The historic ceremony took place in Lord Fredrick Luggard's office located in Ikot Abasi then in Opobo Division now in present Akwa Ibom State.
Channels Television takes a look at the state of this historic facility and its use today.

They came through Calabar, settled in Calabar, knew that the Calabar region has nothing in common with the north. Why did they join them together if not to create problems. It's about time the UK government bring out the amalgamation documents for us to review.

I just visited this place on May 31, 2022 and the government has still not deemed it fit to make changes to ensure safeguarding of such an iconic structure in the history of the country. It's a shame.

We don't have value as a people and as a nation,so the deplorable state of the house has shown clearly we don't exist anymore, the effect of the edifice is prevalent now than ever, but time will tell if can still stand because the symbol and the model of our existence is weak and broken.
