It's helpful to put the slide into a large plastic bag before attempting to remove the spring clip so that when it goes flying off the bag will catch it. Especially if you are doing the screwdriver method instead of the spring tool method. In this video the clip stayed on the tool (and was a surprise to the guy) and he didn't do the removal with the screwdriver (just demonstrated how to start).

TKs for this video,,,just unclogged an amado key on my flugel,,,,didnt have the tool , 2 toothpicks did the trick on the spring.

Hi David. Have you heard of the JoyKey? It drains the water automatically. No moving parts. Nothing can jam or break. Replacing a clogged WaterWick (the high-tech bronze metal filter) is as simple as screwing off a cap, removing the old WaterWick, inserting the new one and screwing the cap back on. Takes less than 60 seconds.

Some of the newer Amado valves just screw in so no clip is needed.

Yeah...There are so many improvements they could make to this it's sad they still go with this poor design.

What overhaul takes place with just disassembling and reassembling?

He mentions washing the parts b4 reassembling. I always flush the hole in the slide to get excess gunk out that was just inside the hole.

You need smaller c clip pliers..

Better to buy the correct tool for the job. Go buy yourself a small snap ring plier.
