I've been following you for some time already and what I personally like about your channel is your unique perspective on the industry that you work experience gives you an insight that I find very interesting. Also that you are not a professional player, so your guitars you see them not as tools. Pro players can give great info on guitars, but they tend to have the view of how practical it is and does the job they need. As a hooby your is 100% personal pleasure and admiration of the instrument. I've had over 40 guitars myself through the last 5 years, and I know what you mean that you learn lot of things from the consumer point of view, and I like that perspective. You've had much more so you know more than me. Plus you dont come around as a snob or a dutch lol. You seem like a cool dude to hang around and talk about guitars. So keep it up! And I was the one who mentioned in your video if you saw about the N53 SE lol.

You blew by 10k so fast! It's well deserved. I'm frankly impressed you are able to maintain the stream of conciousness monolog so well, it must be informed by the years of presenting a meetings. I imagine you must at least. have an outline you follow, but it may be worth while experimenting with writing a script and using an iPad as a teleprompter. I know it sounds kinda lifeless, but Technology Connections does it really well and shows it's just you putting your best self out there when done properly! Please keep it up, I'm here to listen to your musings as long as you make them!

Thanks. Yes I do spend a lot of time off camera thinking about outline and structure (while driving, running, walking the dogs or just life). I have tried using a script (both in this life and the past corporate life) but somehow it comes off robotic. Thanks for your encouragement right from the beginning and on the PRS forum as well

I have the SE SAS and the SE NF3, and they do sound very different. I agree that the “Strat” 4th position of the SAS sounds exactly like a Strat. The NF3 sounds unique in its in-between world, and the SAS has more true humbucker and true single coil sounds depending on the pickup position it is in. The necks are basically identical, and the hardware is very similar if not identical. The build quality of both is excellent. Between those two SEs it really is a matter of taste and one couldn’t go wrong with either.

RE: DD Narrowfield S vs Original Narrowfield... I have a 2010 Swamp Ash Special with the 57/08 NF pickups. I went to a local shop and played an NF3 SE with the DD NF S pickups and I was pleasantly surprised. Not because it sounded like my SAS NF... but because it sounded different. The neck also felt very different because it lacked rolled edges which made it fell very wide. My original 57/08 NF are bright, full-bodied, and bridges the nuances that I (as a humbucker guy) felt a strat has too little of and P90's has too much of. The DD NF S are darker sounding, balanced, full-bodied, and are much more like a humbucker trying to be more P90 like. Basically less growl and bite. I'm curious of your thoughts when you get a chance to A/B with you Original NF. Thanks for the thoughts and you now have a new subscriber. I'll post a video on my Swamp Ash Special NF after I get back from a short tour... probably sometime in August.

in relation to your other video; taylor swift you could replace with a hologram overnight & it would be functionally be no different. her songs are already written by committee (so her 'talent' wouldn't be noticeably missed), they have access to her solo vocal tracks so getting the 'swift-o-tron 3000' to scan & replicate her voice with a.i. would be trivial, from a corporate marketing perspective she's the mickey mouse ears, the coca cola symbol, the nike swoosh already.. it makes perfect sense to replace her robotically to use indefinitely as a marketing construct, and nothing of value would be lost.

She is a step up from the 1990s boy groups. However, there were plenty of popular acts from the past that did the same thing as Taylor Swift, some with less talent such as Cher.

I hope Taylor inspires more people to start playing guitar, then they can discover "real" guitarists, eventually. She is very popular, and those votes are coming from the general public. I wish "artistic integrity" would be the next trend!! lol.

Taylor Swift songs are also easy. Some people have put up full covers of Taylor Swift songs 15 minutes after Taylor Swift released a song. That easy part is done on purpose so that her audience can feel special. Jumping from Taylor Swift to Samantha Fish might be too hard for her listeners. Beth Hart was performing dates without her band and at one concert she joked that she was embarrassed that she was playing her acoustic guitar in front of her friend Jeff Beck who was in the audience with his wife. Good songs are good songs.

Your assessment of Taylor Swift as a guitarist seems to me fair and sound. It's good to keep in mind that she's a singer-songwriter, and if you're a singer-songwriter you need to play an instrument. For a few hundred years the instrument of choice was a piano, and there are still a few musicians who write pop music who still use a piano -- Elton John and Billy Joel, for example. But, for the most part, the guitar has taken over in the world of popular music. Is Taylor Swift a great guitarist? No, but she'd likely be the first to admit it. Is Neil Young a great guitarist? Was Kurt Cobain a great guitarist? No and no, but they are and were good enough to create their stuff. And so it is with Taylor Swift.
