I'm in a similar situation. I graduated from my local university with a degree in finance and have since decided to go back to school and do premed courses. However, none of the universities in my area (checked all 6) do not even offer second degrees due to high application volume. I've since discovered my local community college has a fantastic science department and have been more excited to take classes currently than I did at my 4 year university. I used to think that premed classes at a CC would be non-beneficial but have quickly changed my mind and hopefully others will see it the same way as myself. Thanks for the great vid!

From all the SMP and MS programs that I’ve talked with, they would all rather see that your pre med classes are taken at a four year college as a non degree seeking student rather than at a CC. It could be the difference between acceptance and denial alone especially if the classes you did poor in were done at a 4 year college

SMP programs just want to see your wallet. They are money grabs.

@@arisecondemail3633 At least with your MD you have a high paying job waiting. What job will you do with your SMP? 🤷🏻‍♂️

@@edhcb9359 I don’t think anyone does an SMP without the ultimate goal of getting their MD. That’s why most have linkage agreements with their medical school granted you reach the GPA minimum and are in a certain MCAT percentile.

@@arisecondemail3633 Some have that. Most do not. I wouldn’t attend a school that stoops to that level regardless.

Btw for those wondering what schools accept CC credits. AAMC provides a list of all the schools that accept and don’t accept CC credits and what courses they accept and how many hours
