Ok that Balloon Party... adorable dog but a nightmare of a puzzle!!!! The lake one was really pretty, but the ballerina was my favorite!!! There was a lot going on with good options to pull from. Plus those two on your table, they are both on my wish list. I love the in and out puzzles by Ravensburger. I also love their cozy series. Have fun at Worlds!!!! As we approach the actual competiion I am getting really excited for you all!!! You guys will do great!

As a librarian, I love that your local library was a positive place to be! I just recently hosted a puzzle swap at my library and it was so much fun! I got to meet lots of local puzzlers and trade for new puzzles! I have the houseboat puzzle, Ravensburger has quite a few puzzles that are an “inside/outside” view, such as an nyc apartment/balcony skyline, campsite inside/outside the camper, and Japanese house/garden. All fun and colorful!

I think Janette and I will actually puzzle quite well together. We are hoping to get in a few practice runs in the days before the start of the competition. We are all getting there a few days early. I just hope I'm not too jetlagged or shaky. I'm going to be so excited that I just might end up forgetting how to puzzle! hehehe

I feel the same as you... so excited for Spain! I already had a taste when I went to the US nationals in San Diego. It was such a blast. There is nothing like meeting a bunch of people who share the same hobby/passion. You are so lucky to have someone to train with... I don't have anyone!!!

I got the US National jigsaw puzzle - trickier than it first seemed, at least to me. I am lucky to have Alison and Wendy to practice with indeed. I can't wait to get to Spain a few days earlier so I can practice with Janette, Jubie and Vicky.

@@fortheloveofpuzzles yes, when I opened the bag and saw the illustration, I thought "easy enough". But ended up being trickier than it looked. And did the mistake to start with the sun. Since then, have done it at home, and did in a different order. Much easier! Although my timing did not improve that much. 1h21m now which is 7 m better than at the Nationals.... nothing to be that excited about!!

You are doing very well Donnalouise. 👍 All you can do is your best on the relevant days at the competition. Not surprised the dog took the longest, not one I would choose to do. 🐕 The one drawback with speed puzzling is that you haven't got time to enjoy the puzzle. Just enjoy the experience and atmosphere of World's 🗺and don't have any expectations. As you stated, how well you do is image dependant, you will have to hope that it is one you like. My most recent 500 Ravensburger was called Typefaces and I enjoyed doing it at a leisurely pace.

Sometimes I think that I want to redo a puzzle just for fun as I know that I would truly loved building it leisurely and not speed running it. I looked up the puzzle you are working on - cool design. I'd not seen that one before.

So excited for the Worlds, it's going to be the first one I'll watch the stream. Before that I would just watch the round-up videos of the various puzzlers that were there. Have fun and good luck :) You'll crush it!

So much fun watching this video! You did great on your times! Very impressive! It was so funny watching you talk about the dog puzzle. Oh my, it is not my type of puzzle either 😂. I do have the Alice in wonderland puzzle. It was so fun putting it together especially since I love the book. Not into speed pusling myself, rather enjoyment pusling. But found it amusing that I have those two 1000 piece puzzles myself in my to do puzzle pile. Also liked the image on that first 500 piece puzzle, the one with the tropical setting. Though the dog and balloon one also looked pretty, it is not a puzzle I would enjoy doing.

There are so many amazing Ravensburger images that I'm not surprised you have some of the same ones in your to-do pile. That dog and the balloon....ugh! Lovely picture as I love dogs, but definitely not great as a puzzle!

I am hoping that we will do some videos together. Depends on how much down time we have. Definitely will be lots of photos. For the pairs preliminary, it's a 500 piece in 90 minutes. If you make it to pairs finals, then it's a 1,000 piece in 2 hours. Thanks again for lending me those puzzles! We just have on left to do.

I hope you have a fantastic time in Spain! I love watching others speed puzzle so I might try it myself one day--I'm more of a turtle than a hare. I did finish the 2,000 piece Novel Avenue and I love it! It took me two weeks going slow and steady 🐢😊

Wasn’t Novel Avenue so much fun to build?! I loved it and it looks so good up on the wall. If you want to try speed puzzling, I suggest you try a newer 500 Ravensburger - good speed puzzling quality. But just try to go faster than usual, don’t focus so much on speed but trying to do it in just one sitting. Time yourself to have a reference. Then you can just try to go a little faster and see if you actually enjoy it. Even if you redo the same puzzle a few times seeing if you can go faster. Let me know if you do try and what you think. 💜🧩

Oh I believe in myself but I also like to be realistic. I have yet to beat the one hour mark and there will be competitors in Spain who can finish a puzzle in 34 minutes. I know it's going to be so much fun though and I can't wait to meet everyone. Kia ora from New Zealand!

Thank you!! We have one National event each year here in New Zealand. We don't have states - we call them regions - or any local events. There is a great group of people trying to set up an official association which would be great!

I like to think that I have a realistic attitude, not a poor one. Knowing that people can complete a 500 piece in 34 minute and I have yet to do it under an hour, makes me realise that I won't win. It's amazing how fast some people are!

Hi! You're doing really well! Those are some nice times 😊I'm also going to the WJPC, and I'm also preparing myself for not winning anything. I think it would take much more than a few months of practicing to build a 500-piece puzzle within like 40 min to be a serious competition to Alejandro... My personal record is about 1 hour and 5 min, so it seems just like yours 😉But, it usually takes me 1 hour and 17 min to finish a puzzle (on average). So, I doubt I'd have any special and recognizable place. But, it would be great though to at least reach finals. It seems the best person from every country will be in the finals (if I remember correctly), so that could be doable. I'm more optimistic as far as pairs and teams go. Together with my puzzle partner we build a 500-piece puzzle within 35-40 min, so I guess that's good enough and in teams (two puzzles) we manage within more or less 2 hours or 2 hours 15 min. We didn't have much practice together (just one whole day session) but enough to know each other's strengths. I'm sorry that you can't really practice with Janette, Vicky and Jubie. But, do talk about what you're good at and figure out if any of you can puzzle upside down. I'm afraid that the right puzzle image is not enough to do well at the competition. I think we'll all be pretty stressed out... That could actually be the biggest enemy. I hope to meet you there, Donnalouise! It would be so cool to share experiences of puzzling from so many different parts of the world. This is, I guess, the most valuable about the whole competition: meeting people who have the same hobby 😊There actually aren't so many of us. In Poland, where I am from, I can hardly find a puzzle enthusiast. So, being a puzzler might feel lonely. I'm glad there's the Internet and at least that way we can share what we love. You and I sounds like we do have very comparable times at speed puzzling. And yes, I do think there is something about the best individual from each country (from each round) making it to the finals. I think you need to finish the puzzle in 90 mins during the second round and be the fastest from your country to make it. Something like that... It also applied to Pairs and Teams. I read it in the rules but can't remember it fully. 35-40mins for pairs is great! Alison and I only did one 500 piece together if I remember correctly and then we've been focusing on 1,000 pieces. You would think Jubie and I should be good at puzzling upside-down because of where we live HAHAHAHA Sorry, that was a bad joke! Definitely come up and say hi! I can't wait to meet everyone. Being in Poland, is not Trefl from Poland? I would think that there would me more puzzlers?? And I love your Instagram - I follow you there.

I most puzzle for leisure, speed puzzling is just one aspect of the hobby. It's not for everyone, and that's fine. And you must be a fast enough puzzler if you have been able to do that many already this month.
