As a bengali this tradition is not really used in bengali weddings its usually mostly followed in north and north west india

For people who are saying they're seeing this for the first time - I can understand, because many of our rituals and practices have faded away through the years now. But this is a very old and beautiful practice in many of the Punjabi and Himachali weddings😊 I love how finally so many things are coming back. Weddings now are a maximum week long function. Earlier weeks and months went into the preparations with different rituals each day and every family member played a pivotal role in different rituals. I love to see traditional "old school" weddings where makeup, clothes and even the jewelry was designed and made in a particular manner only meant for weddings. Congratulations to the couple, family and friends ❤

No, this is not done in MOST Indian weddings. India has many different types of weddings owing to the fact that it is rich in many different cultures. This is a beautiful ritual and as an Indian i myself am seeing this ritual being performed for the first time, this was for the ignorant people who ignore India's diversity out of sheer lazyness.

This is call Kaliren ceremony.... newly wed bride do this ritual to unmarried girls....which girl gets Evan a small piece of it, will get married soon it's a kinda indication...it's the part of Indian Punjabi wedding....
