I’d say Roy is the one causing trouble. He’s the one who started this mess. Op mentions that his wife has been a stay at home wife for years, so she might’ve stayed because she can’t financially support herself yet. We also know Roy is the kind of guy to cheat on his wife with a girl 16 years younger than him. I think it’s more likely he doesn’t really care what his wife thinks but just uses her for the sake of argument.

She stayed with the cheater which means accepting the consequences of that. One of which is the child. The child deserves a family and there is no guarantee that their time in the system would be short or pleasant. She and the child are both innocent but she had the option to leave even if it wouldn't have been the best one. The child is helpless.

@@larissagomes451 yeah I rewatched and saw that... but also op said they understood the sisterinlaw may not do well if she left. She clearly said it. Unspecified but could be education level.. poor jobs but also could be mental health like anxiety or physical health. There maybe a very good reason like trauma or genetics why the woman wants to be child free. Something is making her put up with a lying cheating partner... I feel sad for all and op is probably a lovely parent but I do wonder if the little girl would have less possibility for trauma in the future if adopted into a more neutral situation
