I'd do the whole car bring it completely back to life with the refurb wheels and filter and exhaust job done mate

Jamie, ignore the haters and keyboard warriors! Just clean it up and enjoy it. If you respray it you will either (a) do an ok job for your medium budget but never ever be really happy you didn't go the full hogt or (b) keep throwing more money at it because whilst your doing it you may as well do this and that and that and $$$. I think the people relate to the fun/value for money driving more than glamour rebuild. Just my 2c from Australia. Cheers Steve

Loving the 106 videos. I had a black one back in the day and I absolutely loved it. I have had many other fast cars since, but the 106 is the one that I remember the most. Such a chuckable, nippy little car that in its day was right up there with the best handling cars of it time. Mine was delocked after some scrote tried to break into it. Looking forward to seeing it all come together and love it that you keeping it original (ish)

May as well respray it all, it'll look excellent especially with the alloys refurbed in silver 👌 Look forward to the next video of this 106 GTi. Gotta love them!

The most natural video - a really good watch. It seems that sometimes you try to put on an act whereas with this one it just seemed like you were being you.- Just like you used to be in your old videos (eg 3 series rattle can video which attracted me to your channel). Nice one.

Loving the vids and just see the price difference between a full respray and 75% respray...go from there as you say, depends how much you want to spend if it is a big price difference. Either way.. looking forward to it!

Get it fully painted and do some of the prep yourself. That's how most would do it to save a few quid. The best projects are those you do the most work on in my opinion. Satisfying knowing you played a big part in building a car.

Looks awesome mate, do it go for a full respray, tidy it up outside and inside I’d keep the wheels black though, maybe even go same colour as u did in the bmw wheels

After your last vid it’s had some paint already and based on the damage to the door and rear quarter get the lot done well and it will all match and age at the same rate looking good long term. Lovely little motor, so under rated!

I’m painting my 90 pound Micra for 100 pounds professionally with a gun, single stage paint custom one off colour, flatting off the car and painting onto flat paint because you can do that on old cars 🌚😂

I’ve got myself a silver 106 GTI only got 72000 miles but it’s sat for over 10 years and a bit mouldy looking but gonna put a little or should I say a lot of work into it over the next wee while. I’ll be keeping an eye on this project coz no doubt I’ll learn a thing or two to what to look out for!

Using a rotary for the first time is hard. Hope you decide to full spray it. Love the videos on it .

i only seen mops for polishing and sponges for cutting you seemed to used for cutting heavy ans medium cut . What polish did you finish with to protect

Lovely Jubbly, if you want to keep it for a long time repaint the whole car, coz you'll always notice the difference in shades, if not, just tidy it up.

Alf De-kane, fair, what about a set of the Speedline 15’s from a 1.9 205, they look good on 106’s and Saxos. I have a set in the inventory haha..

To be honest the car looks great how it is after the detail. Dents you can remove and bare plastics you can put a trim dressing on or possibly spray in satin black 👍

Don’t think the bonnet gas struts are standard amigo, unless on ph2 106 they were? If they are Citroen really cheaped out on the saxo!

My yellow one was so many different shades of yellow after 3 years I got a full respray cost a fair amount from eccosse Peugeot in Bo’ness Scotland

Id do the whole car too. Red being one of the hardest colours to match and lets face it, a fully resprayed cherry red GTi is going to look insanely good. Mines will be getting a full one too at some point 😊

The plastics will alwsys be slighty off colour to the bodywork if your going through spraying most of the car just go all out and do it all it will be worth it in the long run especially with it being red

A respray would be the best option in my opinion the pigment has faded in that old red paint polishing it won’t do the trick plus polishing lacquer isn’t really going to change the colour much And with all the dents in the body work it would just look 100times better with a respray 👌🏻

If you do the strip down to save some money, you should be able to get a respray with the necessary repairs for 1.5 - 2k

Full spray Job Red is a hard colour to match even in good condition same as yellow. U will always be disappointed in the different shades of red.

A whole respray would make the car mint, sort out the suspension(new shocks,lowering springs)new sports exhaust and refurbed alloys to silver. Will look amazing. It what the GTI needs/deserves.🤟👍

Red needs a re-spray. After six months you’ll regret painting bits of it.

My dad used to have the same car. Silver 5 door zest with the NA diesel engine. It did put him off French cars sadly. Had to change the gearbox, injectors and a few other stuff

Just do it up from start to finish not like the fiesta and saxo that you startet and never finished

The paint looks much more fresh, after the marring and swirls have been removed!!.

Always wanted one of these. There's rough one not far from me.........

Think the full respray will be well worth it.

I know you keep saying that you've bought the 106 cheap but that doesn't mean you should think less of it.... If you are spending the money on 70% then you might as well do it all and make a proper wee car out of it............. If you did a proper respray and put some tasty wheels on it it would be real gem. You used to be able to get some really good aftermarket exhausts for them back in the day. Keep it classy and don't ruin it with a straight through pipe.

Stop messing about get it resprayed and makesure your painter isnt afraid to stoop down get plenty of paint on the sills because peugeots do rot on the sills so extra paint extra protection btw love the car

I would respray the hole car, there’s not too much difference talking about money if you’re doing 75% of the car. Also you’re probably never going to match the color because its faded due to the years of the car and being red it’s even worse, i think it deserves painting it complete. Love that car
