3:42 no particular meaning of hands in this year performance bit I think (or I didn't get it sorry), but in a Kalush's performance the hands underneath symbolised like mothers protection of a child Oh actually this hand from the sky could also mean previous generations (because this is what rapping part is about)

I don't know Ukrainian culture very well, it is very complicated (I remember that teachers at the university told us that paganism, Christianity, and ancient beliefs are strongly intertwined in Ukrainian culture even now), but my friends explained that this hand sign is a wish a good journey or health, and also represents the hands of a loving mother. Hands, I guess, means that God can do good things only through our hands. Also, helping each other and support helps to go through hard times, and hard times is something that happens frequently having such neighbors. For the last hundred years Ukrainians went through the communist red terror, genocide starvation, WW2,deportations of Crimean Tatars and Ukrainians to Kazakhstan and Siberia, war in Afghanistan,Chernobyl disaster, economic collapse and extreme poverty of early 90s, revolution of Dignity, war with russia 2014, war with russia 2022. So, we're very greatfull for all the support that we're having now from all over the world. This is vital to keep going to the peaceful future.❤❤❤
