Holy sheep shit Dude, you have an old Chamberlain! What legends! Next I'll be seeing a Muir hill or county rocking along. Loving this channel. My dad burnt all our straw here in NEW ZEALAND when I was young, burning off and Dutch harrows are a big part of my childhood, and yes we had a county 964.

Great vlog as per usual Matt. When we first started on our farming journey I dreamt of owning a Chamberlain one day. It never happened but great to see an Australian built tractor still earning its keep. Planting conditions look ideal so may all the hard work, planning and dedication be rewarded with a great 2023 crop.

I absolutely love experiments. I would love to see an experiment with activated charcoal. Activated charcoal is a very good and very long lasting addition for the soil in multiple ways. The most important factors are water retention and it forms an excellent habitat for the beneficial aerobic organisms. Aerobic organisms convert nitrogen from the air into a form of nitrogen that is a nutrient for plants. Because it has such a long lasting effect it doesn't need to be applied all at once or every single season. But I would love to see a real life experiment so that it can be properly compared with the yields from a strip of land that didn't get the activated charcoal. I am doing my own experiments with my small scale backyard aquaponics system. I grow food without any soil at all. My food grows in a lava rock media, and the nutrients for the plants that I grow come from fish waste that is provided by the fish in my small pond. And I pump the water from my pond through the lava rock media, and when the water reaches a certain level a siphon drains all the water back into the fish pond. My point is that the aerobic bacteria convert the fish waste, and nitrogen from the air, into plant available nutrients. That is the ONLY nutrient source for the plants. Aerobic bacteria are the most important factor to grow food, no matter if it is in the soil, or an aquatic grow system. Sand is just a habitat for micro organisms, without the aerobic micro organisms nothing would grow, no matter how much nutrients that you would pump into the grow media. The amount of yield from a strip of land directly correlates with the amount and diversity of the aerobic micro organisms. The amount and diversity from the aerobic micro organisms are the bottleneck in any grow system. You will have more profit when you are able to increase the amount and biodiversity from the aerobic microorganisms in the soil.

@@thejacksonbrothers Dr. Elaine Ingham can explain the science behind the aerobic microorganisms much better as I can, she is an academic and I am not, and she did all the research and she has all the scientific data. Her youtube channel is called, Dr. Elaine's soil food web school. If you are able to apply some of the things that she is teaching your profits will go up because the yields from the crops will increase, the crops will be less vulnerable for insects and diseases, and eventually you will have to spend less money on very expensive fertilizers. You have enough land for these type of experiments. 👍
