Unless the alien is looking in infra-red, a flashlight would only make you more blind in a fog. If it's dark and foggy so you need light to see anything, yellow has the least glare for humans. But since this was a standard delivery during standard hours, it's probably during the day. And if "the forest is too thick, that's why it's dark," then why weren't they using lanterns to begin with?

Red light allows the photoreceptors in human eyes to relax back to their normal state faster. It’s just basic (okay not so basic) chemistry. I remember this from a presentation by a guy going into optometry back when I studied biochemistry. Photons of higher energy push the electrons in specific bonds to higher energy states. Blue light (or yellow) photons have more energy than red. This is the very reason that military folks carry those red lens flashlights.

Can’t edit on mobile. Before someone writes up a dissertation, I was referring to the part about blindness in the dark. For fog glare, yes blue light is okay. LEDs are good. Polarized light causes less glare.
