Standing in the middle of automatic doors is inappropriate at any time, especially if there are people behind you. Can’t tell you how many times I’ve been walking out of Walmart and an entitled Karen stops literally right in front of me in the doors to look for her keys or something instead of walking a few more steps, moving to the side, and stopping out of the way of other people. Usually I just rudely squeeze by them but I’ve been half tempted to give em a good shove 😂 standing in doors like that could be considered entrapment which is like kidnappings little sister

As a person from Kansas, and for future reference, it's never ever ever ever ever (did I mention EVER) a good idea to stand near exterior walls or windows. I once saw a lady who had been standing at her door videoing literally 2 minutes before where she'd been standing was ripped away. In fact, she was lucky taking cover when she did or she'd have left with thr front half of her home. Please no matter how good the footage is, don't do this. Take shelter. Tornados can and will do whatever they want. The movie wasn't exaggerating that. Go look at the before and after of Greensburg, KS or even Joplin, MO and please stay safe out there folks. I know that it rarely happens in certain places but they are so dangerous and your precious lives are so much more important. I'm glad you and everyone there is okay.

Had an EF-4 go through my property when I was 10 up here in Ontario. Wasn't normal for tornadoes there let alone an EF-4. House ended up being sturdy as a rock and just lots of property damage. On that note we still knew not to stand around and watch it. We ran for dear life into the basement mid supper. Most terrifying moment of my adolescence

Here’s an actually helpful rule of thumb: if you’re looking at a tornado, and it appears to be moving to the left or right, it’s going in that direction, and you should be good. If the tornado looks like it’s standing still, then it is probably coming straight at you, and that’s when you really need to worry. It’s a lot harder to differentiate size changes than direction changes. I’m sure everyone knows of the flying glass hazards, though, but I hope the movement thing helps.

The worst thing about having a Tornado at night is that you can't see it or see what direction it's heading. It more dangerous to have a Tornado at night then during that day. Plus if it's rain wrapped the quadruples the danger.. At least during the day you can see it even in day light it can be hard to see a Tornado.

We once had a tornado in town and a woman came out of the shop with her unbrella. It was her downfall. She was almost immediately struck by lightning. Everyone had panicked but wouldn't dare go and check up on her outside. The winds and storm were too intense. It turns out the unbrella attracted the lightning and that is why I never use an umbrella, even when it merely rains. It's too risky.

This is very similar to something that happened to us one afternoon after school when I was 11 or 12. While we were at FedMart (formerly Globe) on Woodridge. A bad storm came through and the power went out just as we were checking out. Man I remember hearing all the screams as the lights went out from people further back in the store. I watched as some guy walked out and tried to run to his car but was stopped by all the wind and the rain whipping around. He comes back in yelling that a tornado was passing over the store.

This is crazy. As someone from Dixie Alley (deep south tornado alley) if you know, you know. Weather like this is a "get to the middle of a building" weather (there's no basements in Dixie Alley.) We don't play with this. It's one of the major reasons there's not a lot of deaths or injuries when tornadoes occur here. Been through so many tornadoes it isn't funny and everyone is on the alert. Walmarts usually have backup generators so for lights to go out.. that's a bad sign lol.

Years ago I was a towncar driver in Orlando on the night a major hurricane with tornados came through. Think it was Charley. All the other drivers got off the road but there were guests stuck at restaurants and hotels other than theirs that needed rides. I was pulling up, explaining to folks I was the only car out on the road and taking as many as I could legally fit in the car. They could carpool ...but I still had to charge them full fare... If that was OK. Everyone was super cool about it and also gave me great tips. It was my biggest money night. Sadly there were several people in the area killed by tornados that night. A coworkers neighbor was sitting on his couch in his living room when a tornado picked his car up and threw it through his roof, killing him. When you grow up in Florida you learn quickly that the main thing keeping you safe is statistics. The unlikely chance you end up directly in the path of a tornado. But it really doesn't matter where you are... You're in almost as much danger at home as on the road. The big hotels ARE safe, so it was insane the number of people who left a well built Disney property to go out to eat during a hurricane.

Fact is that if you work at a Well known theme park in FL...they don't close the park or tell their employees to stay home during a tropical storm. Nor send them home for their safety. I know because I used to work for them. I quit. I would never risk my life for a job...I have family. There are many jobs that won't sacrifice their employees.
