I met Jim Murphy once in Doylestown skate park, inside that warehouse. We were grommets and he was scary looking and his skating was BIG, on this 10 or 12ft halfpipe. One of our friends wasn't a skater, he would drive us and just come hang out. He goes up to the deck of the halfpipe and Jim was super cool. They were talking about music, and there was a boombox, and we assumed he would wants some hardcore music, but my friend had his cassette collection, like a briefcase, and Murph wanted to listen to Missing Persons, with "Walking in La", like super dancy new wave music. So funny, also Depeche Mode, he rocked all the dance tracks while doing these HUGE airs and talking with everyone, wasn't at all like I thought he was going to be. 1989 I think?
