Our Super Alloy 1 melts at only 350°F. That's half the melting temperature of pot metal. It's very simple to use. Dip your rod into the flux and paint the flux onto the parent metal and heat. When the flux turns brown, you are ready to add the rod. And that's it. After you're done, clean the flux residue off with warm water and a wire brush, sand it smooth, then chrome plate it, paint it, or powder coat it if needed. And yes, Super Alloy 1 is strong enough to repair pot metal and zinc diecast that is broken completely in half. And, of course, it fills gaps and builds up easily. After you are done with your pot metal, keep Super Alloy 1 handy as it also works fantastic on aluminum, copper, brass, steel, pewter, and more in any combination. You will not find anything like this at your local welding supply.
The Super Alloy 5 is the rod of choice if you want to work on cast aluminum or need weld strength. The unique quality is our flux. Remember, when heated, aluminum does not change color. This is yet another important reason to use our flux, as flux is an indicator of the base metal's temperature. When the flux turns clear and the aluminum looks shiny, add the rod while heating the parent aluminum and rod onto the base aluminum. If the rod balls up discard the balled-up alloy and try again. Do not add the rod before the flux tells you to as the rod will block the very area you are trying to braze.
The SSF-6 is one of MuggyWeld.com's highest reordered products. This flux-coated silver solder works fantastic on a variety of metals. As you can see this product finished very nice. Clean your base metal and heat to a dull red using propane, Mapp gas, or oxyacetylene torch. Then you add your rod and witness the extraordinary flow. In most cases, there is no need to machine or grind after brazing. For those of you who like your solder in paste form, try our SSQ-6. It flows like the SSF-6 and is just as strong. Push the syringe, and apply the solder to cold metal. It couldn't get any easier than this. As a matter of fact, it works on just as many metals as the SSF-6. This is the SSQ-6 silver solder.
If you want to arc weld or TIG weld your cast iron, the 77 and 72 electrodes are the rods of choice for welding cast iron. The 72 rods are used for burnt or heat-affected cast iron. The 77 electrodes are extraordinary for engine blocks like this, pumps, cases, heavy machinery; you name it. On heat-affected cast iron lay down a root pass with the 72 and finish with the 77 for excellent machinability.
Cool Blue is now Heat Freeze. Heat Freeze heat paste can be used in almost any welding, brazing, and soldering application. When you need to stop heat cold, HEAT FREEZE is the answer. When you have a part that is broken in half, you fix one side and then turn it over to repair the other. The first solder will soften and melt out. The only way to stop this from happening is to add the Heat Freeze. We placed the Heat Freeze against the soldered joint and were able to heat the opposite side without remelting. It protects heat-sensitive areas when welding next to glass, plastic, chrome, rubber, vinyl, and wood. The Heat Freeze also stops your metal from warpage. As well as holding metals in place while welding, brazing, or soldering. And after you are done, it is completely reusable. Take the Heat Freeze off after it cools down, place it back in the jar, and use it over and over.
Here's a tip for working with flux: heat up the rod first before dipping it into the powder. If the flux doesn't stick, you can try dipping the rod in water first, then in the flux. But if there's already flux residue on the rod, just keep reapplying the flux without using water
