    It is definitely an improvement in the responsiveness. The added 3mm of stack height helps with the cushion and comfort. I really like this version as a successor to the Vanish Carbon.

    It’s already available here in the UK. Ran 18 miles in it today. Good improvements to comfort and energy return with the foam. The plate and rocker geometry made it want to go fast. They are getting closer to the rest of the super shoe market. On the sizing it is a touch long but personally I wouldn’t suggest sizing down because of where the rocker starts, you could end up past the tipping point and benefit less.

    Thank you for your great reviews. I was curious how the slim fit would factor into my purchase decision. I prefer the original fit for everything and hate how Altra has three widths instead of one standard fitting.

    This show worries me. After running 600 miles on the Paradigm 5s with the stability pod and really bouncy, responsive and supportive rubber. I bought the Paradigms 6s and got injured in them right before a marathon. Got plantar fasciitis and injured my Achilles. I realized it was because I kept the same mileage and intense training as I had with the 5s and the 6 could not support this as they are not as supportive and although they feal softer because of a softer sole, the softer cushion feels less supportive, responsive and bouncy. I ended running the marathon injured with the Vanish carbon in desperation. I was amazed that my feet didn't hurt. They also protected my feet and Achilles so well that I was able to run all 26 miles. After watching this video, I'm afraid to try the Vanish carbon 2 after what I experienced with the Paradigm 6 due to the softer foamy soles.

    How does the fit (slim/standard) compares to the Escalante (2.5 specifically)? I'm a bug fan of the 2.5 Is 36mm stack height too much? the full stack height trend is not suiting me well, I feel I can fall of the shoes...

  • @RunMoore

    @RunMoore

    3 ай бұрын

    While the Vanish Carbon 2 is categorized as a slim fit, I had no issues with the width. However, the Escalante will be noticeably wider. The stack height is significantly taller in the Carbon 2. 36mm from 24mm is a big jump for the cushioning underfoot. Especially with the responsiveness and bounce of the Vanish Carbon 2, it can feel a little flimsy compared to the Escalante.

    I've done 2 runs in mine and like them. Coming back from surgery, I'm probably not really cut out for carbon plate shoes [pace wise] but felt I had to try them (albeit at great cost.) I sized up to UK10.5 because the innersoles are 5mm shorter than another Altra size 10 i.e. Mount Blanc Carbon. I use a Vanish Tempo for training and the only difference I detect is the lighter weight and feel (for the VC2) but not the carbon plate. I haven't had any problem with the heel counter. I didn't like the original Mount Blanc heel counter but this feels much better despite looking similar.

  • @ashley1scott

    It’s possible to have a dropped plate location in a zero drop shoe. Just because the sole is zero drop it doesn’t mean that the carbon plate is parallel to the soles surface.

    @ashley1scott swing effect? The plate is just there to provide some structure to the super compliant foam... the curve helps a touch by taking pressure off the 1st MTP joint and intrinsics... just like any other super shoe except it's an asymmetrically bending plate so you can still dorsiflex the toes and corner properly.

  • @RunMoore

    @RunMoore

    Carbon is a rigid and snappy material that will try to snap back into place after deformation. When your shoe bends as you run, it bends the carbon fiber plate and the plate will naturally want to snap back into place giving you that bouncy, responsive, springy feel. It reduces some of the energy you would use to push off the ground as you run. The carbon plates that get put into running shoes are naturally curved which is how they help with the rolling process. It's not a flat plate that goes inside the foam, but one that is curved and helps promote your running form.

    You are not supposed to heel strike when you run fast, to be more efficient with running you should strike your foot on the ball of your foot or flat footed BUT strike your leg underneath your body instead of in front of your body.
