In 1980 Alton Towers advertised its new launch and that summer thousands of people turned up to ride the Corkscrew. The next year it built its first themed area with a dark ride and log flume.
These are records and pictures taken by its developer Keith Sparks seen for the first time!

This is great: nostalgia and great effort combined into a wonderful video. My only gripe is the music drowns out the narration aspects in places.

Doom & Sons was the very first haunted attraction way before the three other ones like the original Haunted House ride (1992-02), Duel (2003-22) and the Curse at Alton Manor (2023-present). WOAH!!!! 🏚️👻
I was too scared to go in Doom & Sons when I went with school…. I also remember being worried about going on Around The World in case the coach left without me… 😂🚌

Doom & Sons was Alton Towers’ very first haunted attraction that looked like an undertaker’s ghostly coffin shop with some ghosts, ghouls, skeletons and zombies. 🎩⚰️👻🧟♂️

i helped to build the log flume , many problems and accidents building through winter time, me n my work mates were first to test ride it
