May 2017 and still the best cover. This Korean guy first uploaded his cover of Altitudes on a Korean website called mule (뮬) where Korean guitarists upload their covers & originals. If I remember correctly, he had about 5~6 covers uploaded to this website and this was back in 2004-2006. I also remember him writing in the comments section saying that he was in his late 20's and he is not a professional guitarist - he played guitar as a hobby. I imagine he is now busy being an average adult making ends meet, supporting his family, and not having time to play/upload his covers. Whatever the situation is, I wish him well and I thank him for this amazing cover.

I agree. There are several very good covers out there, but this was the first I saw, and was shocked that someone would even attempt this song. The emotion and technicality are incredible. The grainy video only adds to the mystique.

At the end of the clip,you can see "Kim Booil" is korean and he says "This cover is for Jason who has ALS and hopes Jason will get over it ".

I'm so much older now. But this still reigns supreme. I will be back. Again and again.

Most rockers don't know who Jason Becker is until they push themselves to be better rmusicians and start looking for real musical inspiration. He was and is one of the greatest rock guitar players that God has ever devised. It's awesome that he is still writing and his music is still being played in his brilliant style.

It’s 2020 and this is STILL the only cover of Altitudes that holds a candle to the original recording. IMO

Who are you mystery human? This is fucking incredible. If I want to hear this song I literally watch this version going on like 10 years.

Let's not forget, someone flawlessly covered this 12 years ago. Goddamn. Keep revisiting this now and then. This and the Korean funk girl are the two videos which motivated me towards learning instrumental guitar.

Zeke sinceramente el cover de jesus parra me parece pésimo en especial la sección de arpegios con sweep picking, por momentos suena sucio, no respeta los acentos(que es lo mas esencial para que esta sección de altitudes deba sonar como debe) y hasta se sale de tiempo. Algunos dicen que es el mejor cover de youtube... ellos sinceramente no saben de lo que hablan.

Amazing cover. This used to pop up whenever I searched for altitudes back in the day. For some reason, youtube no longer shows me this video. What I love about this cover is that it doesn't sound robotic. Amazing cover indeed!

The most amazing quality of Jason Becker's music was his ability to incorporate his fantastic technique into something musically beautiful.

One of the greatest guitar pieces. Played and written!! Amazing job!

The day I play this as well as you did, I will run around town butt naked screaming 'God Bless Jason!!'.. That was unreal!

this is the best play of 'altitudes' i've ever heard... the tapping part is perfect, never heard no one playing it like that....

I've watched a few altitudes covers on youtube and this by far is still the best. It's like Becker himself is playing it.

i watch this video almost every day for the past 2 years. It is the video which made me learn the guitar. Rarely a cover outdones the original, but this one.... it made it!!!!

Me too, and still holds strong as the best cover of this song and tbh probably on all of KZread.

A big part of this song is its tone. So many covers get the wrong tone and it just can't do the original justice. This one can.
