Alternative to pepper made with juniper "berries" (Juniperus communis)

In this video I show you how to make a pepper alternative with juniper cones commonly called juniper berries (Juniperus communis). Juniper berries have a a taste resembling black pepper and I use it in my cooking instead of black pepper.
To make this "pepper" you will need to collect juniper berries when they are ripe (purple), dry them, then grind them to then place them in a glass jar. If you have a pepper mill, the "berries" can be placed directly into the mill without grinding first.
Caution: Do not use juniper if you are pregnant (it stimulates uterine contractions). Juniper might also be irritant on the kidneys if it is used too long in too high doses. The plant is contraindicated for those with irritation of the kidneys.

Nice! But, that's a grinder you're keeping the juniper powder in. Why not keep them whole and grind them fresh when you need it?

Ahah yes it is a good point! I have tried but my gringer is not suitable for juniper berries. They are too big to be crushed by the mechanism. So it was much more effective to grind them before. But sure, if you have the right grinder, I totally agree it is better to keep them whole.
