I've have yet to watch the last episode, but definitely a great cyberpunk genre Netflix series. I was actually surprised out how fast the "mystery" was solved, but figured there was much more to the story. I made sure to rate it with a thumbs up; hopefully there was enough of a viewership to keep going with the series.

Actually season 1 did a really good telling the story of book 1. Book 2 and 3 are both independent stories, they just have the same main character. Book 1 was closest thing to a true cyberpunk, book 2 and 3 are more standard sci-fi books.

Pissed that Altered Carbon has been cancelled after two seasons. WTF!

Yeah I agree with you Sky, I didn't really like the part with the sister being the antagonist of the show, kind of ruined the ending for me, but it's still one of my favourite shows on netflix now :)

If that's the modern vision of cyberpunk I'd rather have it left alone. The series weren't bad, but it missed the original '90s spirit of the genre by a mile.

I don't know, I think it captures the essentials rather well. Heck it's a textbook example including an actual detective. It is a bit too dark though that's true, but that's likely simply due the story concentrating on a very limited part of the whole world. I.e. if everyone is so low-life, who the heck makes most non-alien tech. There is simply no way everyone will be so content for the sole purpose of getting a chance to extend their miserable life. Come to think of it usually the opposite is true.

@@Nebelkorona I feel very alienated thinking the dialogues were extremely dumb. When I first watched it I thought everyone else would think the same. Acting was also very bad. I'm not trying to convince people, just find out why the huge dissonance 🤔

Altered Carbon is seriously hot shit. There are so many nods to the giants in the cyperpunk genre, from Blade Runner to Ghost in the Shell, and the writing and delivery is on point. This is definitely the next defining series for Netflix.

I watched Altered Carbon out of curiosity and I wasn't disappointed. I'll admit that sometimes it got cheesy and a titch over the top, but far as I am concerned, the acting was pretty good and the plot was very interesting. You don't see a lot of Cyberpunk shows and/or movies nowadays and I thoroughly the show. I hope there will be a second season.

Love Altered Carbon and the books it is based on as well as the setting in general. We need more cyberpunk and very neon future media! :D

i've started this show and i really like it , i like the chracter, the principle of "immortality and all the problem that engage ( religious and social) is a good idea.

it amazes me that more of these cyberpunk themes don't instrumentalize that 90's dial-up sound

This show was absolutely amazing. Sci-fi has and always will by my favorite genre of creative media, but I feel like it's always been plagued by low budgets and dated tech. I think we're now in the era where we can have our cake and eat it too with Sci-fi and drama/thriller etc films and games

Anthony Mackie just signed on yesterday to be the lead for the 2nd season. I was hoping it would be the original body actor, and I'm going to miss Kinnamon. I really hope he'll come back as the Ryker character in some episodes.

If they go along with the book, so I doubt that Ryker will be there. Second book is in Harland World, so I dont think our beloved Ryker / Kinneman wil be there. I will miss him. I am not able to see black man in role of Takeshi Kovacs. I am not racist, but black actor? I am dissapointed.

@@shizuleeshoki3556 anyone can have a spine it doesn't matter how they look, that's the only thing about Kovacs he stands up for himself and others, so long as you human the choice is yours, besides the story gives for free reign. The actor's skill is on trail not their genealogy

this was the show that justify me upgrading from 1080p inch to 4k 65 inch. saw the show on a 4k screen and it was like wow... now i play the show from time to time... best to have an LG OLED or a premium LCD that can handle black levels very well.

Chris Kozma CGI is not that expensive anymore, the real costs in this show are about the masterful sets, clothing desings, makeup artists, etc. The physical things are what give a show its spark and this show has a lot of it.

Would be better if Ortega and Kovacs in the Ryker's sleeve ended up together. She loved him more than the previous balancing on the edge cop Ryker. And yes, I know that the show is based on the book in which they also did not end up together. This Leung guy did his acting as a disgusting prick actually really well 'cause I wanted to rip his fukcing stack with this monster-jaw-like weapon by myself. Agree with those thinking that this villain sister theme kinda worsened the plot making it look like a bad fairytale, not a sci-fi tv show. Anyway, it's solid 8/10 for me. And the scene in the Wei Clynic is freakishly mindblowin'! "You, idiots, have abducted and tortured a CTAC officer..."

Playing this in the background in most entertainment genres will make it all the more enjoyable and thirsty for more...
