Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
This is a how-to tutorial video that will help you get started altering a discarded book into a new place to make art. Altering old books into journals, sketchbooks and new forms of expression is a great way to free yourself up from the dreaded blank page block. I will help you get started.
Thank you for subscribing to this art channel. I value your interest in art and will do my best to help you. If you have questions, please post them in the comments section and I will respond. Please be kind. I am making the videos with the intention of helping people on their creative journey. I am sharing what works in my classes and workshops.
Best Wishes,

Great !!! ,simple things are more inspiring . Thank you ,like your journals also .
Thanks for the tips regarding how to glue the pages. I am getting ready to make my first junk journal.
Wow! I loved the technique and the beautiful place!
Hi Suzette! You don’t tear out pages , at all! I don’t like being stuck with a pile of torn out pages!

I don't like the look of the puffy book, but I'm glad to know you can get around that problem. I just use the pile of pages in other collage projects.

@@SuzetteMorrow oh goodie!
Thank you for doing this video. I wish I had seen it before I started doing my books. You make so much sense by starting from the back of the book and avoiding the ripple pages. Thanks again.
Thank you so much for this! I would've never thought to start from the back and move forward to avoid creases and wrinkles, and the credit card trick is incredibly helpful, as well!
Fab video. Thank you. Hugs, Dee x
I love these tutorials and it's best to start gluing from the back of the book right :)
TFS. Now I know why my pages buckled when glued together. LOL
Awesome! Finally! Finally! A demo using a decent size glue brush! lol very good 😊 information...!
love this video! Nice to meet you :) Blessing! P.S: OMG! i LOVE the little deer

Thanks. I hope you are making some art yourself.
I'm so glad you did this video. I'm doing my first altered book and I don't have a clue on how to do one , where to start and what type of glue to use. Thank you thank you for doing this informational video. I'm now going to watch the rest of your videos and then get started on my book.

I hope it is going well. I am happy to have helped you get started.
The wax paper tip is a great idea
Oh I wish I would have watched this before starting to glue my book. I went from the front and totally got the buckle thing, messing with how nice and flat the pages used to lie when the book was open, which is the biggest reason I chose it. Thanks for this, I'll use it in the future!

My pleasure, please keep making videos
What about Yes glue? Would that work?
Would you sell one done already
Great video! Do you also need to water down the wallpaper paste?
SILLY QUESTIONS-- You ready? does the golden harvest romans wallpaper paste you yellow over time? Does it dry glossy or matte? Does it leave any sticky residue? I LOVE THE ALTERNATIVE to gel mediums and pva's which can be pricey. Its under seven bucks at our local homedepot so thats VERY econimical! i have tried several times to get my pages glued in straight--and while they arent as severely warped as the example of DONT DOs, its still not as pristine as yours. Also I have too much warping in the pages (too wet??) THANK YOU THANK YOU for your videos on altered books. PLEASE keep them coming!

Stacy, Thank you for your support on more videos. I'm working pretty hard to get my school lessons ready so that I can get back to making some videos. They are pretty handy for teaching and re-teaching for folks that were absent. Yes, the gels make a sticky page and some paints that are glossy stick as well. You can spray sticky pages with workable fixative to decrease that issue. Too wet will create wrinkles. Try gluing a few and skipping a few to allow for drying by wicking the moisture into the skipped pages. This is why I glue several books at a time so I can skip around and allow them to dry. Happy art making!
I'm doing my renaissance festival wedding book. Your video is super helpful. I just wish the music wasn't so loud at the end!

suzette morrow It's going really well. I didn't know how long these books take! Makes them all the more amazing.
Hi Suzette. New Subbie. Question for you. Do you thin out your book pages like cut alternative pages out in between to thin the book out? I like your method for junk journaling instead of gutting the books but I'm new at this and want to give this a try but I would like to glue other things onto the pages too to make it more like a junk journal rather than artistic art journaling. Will check out more of your vids too. TIA

Yes, thin by signature. Try not to break the thread.
Maybe this is a dumb question, but do I have to brush glue on each page, or will the glue come around the edges so that I can glue multiple pages together at once? Thanks for the video!
@SuzetteMorrow

+Eri Mich Hi Eri. You can glue a chunk by liberally applying around the edge and then clamping them. This works well if you want to cut out a nitch inside the book. However, gluing them solid makes for a better substrate for art making.
I purchased Max tacky glue for gluing page together, could you please tell me if this glue is good enough ? thank you and thanks for the vid :)!

Star, Tacky glue will make your pages stick together fine, it's just not cost effective. It is also a lot thicker than what you really need.
Nope. No water in the wallpaper paste. Thanks Mandy.
The word is 'warped.'
please be more concise with your explanations and less repetitive and well, boring.
