Just ordered a pair of low tops. Hoping not to encounter the defect as described by Danzig Rulze below.

What drives me nuts. I ordered a pair and the “drain hole” on he outside is not centered on the divot of the sole in the right shoe. The left is centered. Looking at this pair it’s the same way. Now it’s not a huge deal. But it shows lack of quality control.

Forgot the eyelets are made of a non rusting material, the insole is clothless. All of the reasons it is called maritime. Changing the insert I would not use in a maritime area of operation. (IE boating operations)

Got two pair, each one of them had the same defect. The stitching around the ball of the foot where the drain hole is at on the left foot was off and created a tight fit.. Wish I could get a pair without this defect.

Danzig Rulze Both of mine in 11 are tight as hell ,They tug on my feet weird I think it's the sticky soul inside. I thought it was just me at first.

Got the lows, looks cool, but walking in it for a day makes my feet sore, the outsole is too stiff, I have replaced the insert but still the same

I use a soft insert for mine; some find that a stiff insert works well.

I did not agree with the insoles. My socks got caught up with my toes and it was very uncomfortable. I changed them and now they fit great.

Agreed. Its soft but the texture was odd. I think removing the inserts and using another brand would be best

Looks like the wides are shipping. Weird... I just bought the regulars and they were way to tight so I'm sending them back. Looked to order a size up and seen the wides and they didn't say on backorder. These are cool looking I can't wait to get the wides and have a KICK ass kick. I've always wanted a multicam boot that didn't look like a traditional boot. I never could find what I was looking for until I seen these.

thats not gonna be good for sand. the lalo's are the best options vie seen thus far though they should've gone for side drainage instead of the holes at the bottom. sea urchins can creep a pin through the holes.

Got the grey mid tops I just wish they made them without drain ports

They are maritime footwear. They have to drain and dry as quickly as possible.

Smear aquarium sealant into the porous fabric until clogged.

Would these be comfortable for regular ruck walks and everyday street wear? Im thinking about getting these and I'd probably wear them around town and on the occiasional ruck.

Def good for street wear. If youre going on ruck walks I would go a size up and put a good insert in it. The inserts they come with are sufficient and maybe youll like them. However if you make your purchase, try them out, and then see if you want added support. Also, the kind of socks you go with will make a huge difference

Only for street wear. These have no arch support and the sole is thick plastic that has no give.

How tall are they

Boot or sneakers?

Just to clarify, how would I exactly determine a good size? I'm a 9.5 Men size, should I go to 10?

I would go up instead of down. With a good insert it should feel comfortable and fill the shoe

Want some for everyday wear...but do they serve practical purpose in the field? Like can I hike long distance with weight while wearing them?

Yes, these shoes run 120$ strictly because they are well made. Made for military use also. And if you buy a pair from gruntstyle if something happens to them, you send em back and get new ones for free. I highly recommend looking these up at the website and reading what they are made of.

"If" you buy these grunt gear is the way to go. I have these and they KILL my feet they're so narrow. Altama says these are meant to be worn barefoot. I can only keep them on 30mins tops. Bummed out about it.

Tyler clark I’ve gone trail running with my mid tops with about 25 pound ruck in desert terrain and they work. Not as good as my Salomon speedcross4 but more than adequate with no signs of wear ( total miles on trails approx 6-8)

I switched out the inserts. I'm doing a full written review on Spotterup.com

Spotter Up I did the same with mine! Switched to an ortholite insole, have worn then everyday for almost a year and have had ZERO ISSUES! Fantastic boot.

are the soles very narrow? also does water get into the drain holes easily?

The soles are similar to Chucks because of the last. It is a narrow last. However the OTB has a more padded insert than Chucks and therefore make it a bit narrower. I recommend going one whole size up. Figure out what kind of socks you'll where with it; thick boot socks or thin poly running socks and go from there

Returned mine to the dealer I purchased from, too tight and narrow, I wouldn't have been able to walk a block in them.

That's one of my few complaints. I wished the offered larger/wider sizes. I hope they'll consider doing that for guys that have wide feet like ours

Good review. Did you ever try them on? I try to put them on with socks, but the socks stick to the insert as soon as my foot touches the inside of the shoe. Very uncomfortable due to the sock being pulled tight against my toes as I slide my foot in. Maybe I should try some thin, slick, dress type socks, or as you mention, replace the insert entirely. And you're right about going up a size. The ones I got are snug when wearing thin athletic socks. I got a pr. of the boots and a pr. of the shoes, and for the price, I'm disappointed in the fit and function. I think I'll stick with my Chucks.

If converse would multicam Chucks they would be waaay better! Buy Grunt Gear with a lifetime warranty.

Yes, They will work. The flat outsole is similair to olympic lifting shoes with the low drop, versus higher drop shoes. Shoes usually come as 4mm 8mm or 12mm. Running shoes have a higher heel, and a lower forefoot. These are zero drop.

how are they holding up after 6 months? I was waiting on Grunt Style to friggen restock larger sizes for months until a rep finally admitted they're not getting more. Found these altama branded ones though, same thing for $30 less. They seem like the perfect multipurpose outdoor shoe. I think I'm gonna pick up the coyote high tops and just change the lace color. any other brands of assault shoe like this you know of?
