I went with the Tech 7 Enduro boots for one very important reason - when riding off-road you will encounter a scenario where you will either have to push or pull your bike in slick or muddy terrain, the tread on the Tech 7 Enduro will help you gain traction and not slip and twist your knee due to wearing a smoother soled Motocross boot. If that sounds like a somewhat specific example, it is and is the reason I bought the Tech 7 Enduro boot and threw my old motocross boots away.

A 12 hour day in my Tech 7 Enduro's and I'm as comfortable as I've been in any full motorcycle boot. And as mentioned by others, the sole provides better traction when off the bike. I've been told that some teflon spray will remove most of the squeak.

Bought the Tech 7 Enduros three months ago. The squeaking was driving me nuts, so I sprayed all the plastic (and non plastic) parts that rub together with chain wax. So far, no squeaking. Friends suggested WD-40, but WD-40 is actually a solvent and dissipates quickly. The chain wax seemed to permeate the plastic and rubber, which should help keep the squeaks away much longer..

It's taken me a while to realise that you need to sacrifice some walking ability for protection. I've gone from soft ADV boots, to Alpinestars ADV Corozal boots (2 buckles), and now I have Alpinestars Tech 7. After you get smacked in the shin a few times, you realise that you need soild higher boots. Tech 7s are great as they still offer excellent protection, with reasonable comfort for short walks, at a moderate price. Cheers

Interesting video, Eric....Well-done! I love my Alpinestars.... As more of a "casual" (I'm old) adventure rider, I don't have the Tech 7 or 10, but I seem to always gravitate to Alpinestar's Web Gore-Tex Boot for dual sport. Even tho they lean a little more to the touring side of the adventure style boot, they work well in the most of the off-road stuff I get in to. Now you've got me interested in these Tech's...argh, thanks a lot!!!! lol

I have a set of Forma Terra's. Have had them for 4 years and 11k miles. Break in was tough for walking. But that steel shank feels good when standing for long periods. I got them because at the time they supposedly had the widest toe box of any of these style of boots. I have a very wide foot. And also very large calves. It fits a 19 inch calf and my F width feet. Though I did go up a size. They still look new when cleaned up.

I would just add I travel around the world going on various rides, the Tech 7 is much better like you said for getting off the bike. Sometimes I need to push someones bike for them, or take some photos needing a short walk or climb, etc. Tech 7 is the perfect boot if you're going 'sightseeing' which means getting off the bike a lot. I also ride Crf250L a lot because this bike is available for rent pretty much everywhere in the world. It's not a huge adventure bike so a thick boot like the Tech 10 is not needed IMO. I feel the Tech 7 has plenty of protection for small dirt bikes

Have had the Tech7 Drystar for about a year and the squeaking was driving me up the wall and found out the best way to get rid of the squeaking - spray wet chain lube under the link just above the outside facing hinge with the Alpinestar logo. Also found out after riding in freezing fog and rain for about 5 hours in Ireland, they are not truly 100% percent waterproof.

@@IncredibleCisco Don't get me wrong, they are absolutely amazing boots, but after 5 hours of relentless Irish rain, surface water, puddles etc. they eventually started getting a bit damp. I wouldn't swap them for anything else, as I do not believe there is a single boot that is 100% waterproof after being subjected to constant water around them for hours on end. These are super comfortable and protective too.

Using 3 pairs of 10, currently using 7. 7 is troublesome to put on and take off because the buckle is entangled in 4 places. 10 is smooth. 10 has an inner, so it is comfortable to wear. 10 is more susceptible to damage. It was not durable. 10 is a boot used for motocross. In order to use 10 for travel, you should use it with a thorough knowledge of its character.

I almost went for the Tech 7 Enduro Drystar, but I'm a huge fan of Gore-Tex (have a pair of AlpineStars Web Gore-Tex touring boots, and love them), so I bought the Toucans. In case any are wondering, the Toucans fit inside AlpineStars Andes v3 pants, and Asterix Ultra Cell 3.0 knee braces fit in the Toucans and also fit in the Andes v3 pants.

@@SileX406coup, your English is excellent enough that now I understand perfectly. That is a tough situation, but I wonder if it's really necessary to be able to close/velcro that spot anyway. Yes, it would be ideal, and that's how it's designed, but once the rest of the boot is closed around your ankle, it might be hard to tell the difference if the velcro is connected or not if you have a nice thick sock (although a thick sock would add to the problem.) Or, maybe you can find a little velcro "extension" piece of 70-80mm or so to bridge that gap? Hope it works out.

Not a problem - waterproof boots are great until they’re not. To be clear, no boot is “completely” waterproof. Even if water does not get higher than the gaiter, the membrane will eventually wet-out/through. Once water makes its way into the boot, however it gets in there, the “waterproof” liner does a great job of keeping it in there because it (simply) does not allow the same air flow as a boot without a membrane. In my experience over several decades of riding and backpacking, non-waterproof boots breath better, waterproof boots (Gore-Tex or otherwise) take longer to dry out because of the lack of breathability. Not that MX boots breath that well to begin with, add the membrane and breathability is almost non-existent.

Fox instincts were amazing until I over shot a 100 footer and my ankles folded pretty bad because there was no front resistance like there is on the tech 10s I’ve have zero complaints with the tech 10s except I did cut them with my two stroke but that was also my fault too I guess kicking it with my toe out 🤦🏻‍♂️ but yeah all in all tech 10s or nothing for me.
