Thanks for merging the two runs. I can't understand the commentators, but fortunately Alpine skiing is easy to follow even with the language barrier.

AJ Hurt: This is an add on to the last comment. Some people are getting their weight on their back seat (leaning back a bit and putting weight on the heel of the boot). This causes you to skid/brake. You want to keep your weight on your mid-foot (straight down into the ski). This will prevent or lessen skidding/braking. It will also tend to give you a flatter ski (better gliding position and a better power position for carving).

I thought I heard Katharina Lienberger say I gave her a tip that helped her. I actually gave it to Petra Vlhova. Some people will also remember I mentioned watching Tommy Moe -- a great glider -- the summer before at Mt. Hood practicing for the 1994 Olympics (presumably in 1993). The best mogul skiers in the world then. I think I saw Trace Worthington blow his knee out. Then I watched Jean-Luc Brassard (a famous Canadian) take many runs. Jean-Luc has been called the G.O.A.T. by many (greatest of all time). He was the one who started putting different colors on his knees so the Judges could pick up on the movement. Since my mogul skier comment for slalom effectively came from watching Jean-Luc Brassard, maybe it was a good tip.

I just watched "AJ Hurt". She often had her skis too close together. If you do this it is easy to lose traction on the outside ski, especially on a rough spot. Then you may lose balance; or you may slip onto the other ski. You may do still something else. If you keep your skis farther apart closer to a DH/SG stance, then you can turn by pressuring the front edges of your skis to engage the arc in both the skis. If you keep pressure on both skis (say 30% on the inside ski and 70% on the outside ski or whatever it turns out you are more comfortable with), then you will not be in danger of slipping to the ground. You will not be in danger from losing the edge on the outside ski. That may happen; but you will still have the edge on the inside ski to keep you up long enough to regain the edge of the outside ski. Further for at least some of the turns you will be able to effectively glide through the turn (more speed) while turning on the edges. You should also at least sometimes be able to get rebound speed from the end of the turn (pushing forward from the compression at the end of the turn). Again you will want to mostly do this from you mid-foot, not from your much weaker toes. If you do it from your heels, you will most likely be skidding/braking -- slowing. That's probably enough for one comment. You have been looking better of late. Keep pushing to get better. It looks like you should continue to improve quickly. If you push one ski in front of the other, which some people use to help turn, you will effectively be braking. Thus you want to carve and glide with both skis as much as possible as you might in DH/SG. You can quickly switch the 70% weighted ski by just rolling your boots to the other side. Then you will be pressuring the other edges. Obviously when you have to turn quickly, you will have to do whatever you think will make the turn quickly for you. Experiment with this, You may find you are quite quick carving/gliding and rolling with practice. Best Wishes David White.
